Your Whole Life Was Good

To Vaughn, Sr.

by tallsunshine12

Your whole life was good,

All your days were good ones,

A picture of wonderful manhood.

Kindly ways were your ways. Talking with you

Made up a world for me. I can hear you

Laughing at a joke of mine, or a funny show on TV.

You never looked too far back, or too far ahead,

But lived in the moment, talking with friends and

Drinking coffee at your little stops here and there.

You were a yard sale's truest friend.

You and Daisy are taking walks together again.

Virginia and Hazel and Boyd are walking with you.

When I look around at your things, I can hear

Your voice. It's not gone. Neither are you.
