Let me tell you a story...

It all started in Egypt: Alchemy. The greatest gift they could conceive. With it, they could forge whatever miracles they can think of. But it could also be used to destroyed. So when the time came, and Ancient Egypt fell, it spreads throughout the region, and later into Hyperborea.

It became understood and commonplace for other nations to learn from the art of Alchemy. And as it passed on from Egypt and into Spain, it spread out into Latin Mu, including the setting of our story: Mexico.

First, there was the Mexican-Mulevean War, then came the reform war, the French intervened and now, Revolution.

This is a story about four people, people who once live a life as robbers, then died as heroes. People from the north of the United States of Mu to Mexico.

A revolution broke out, the people revolt against their president Porfirio for silencing rebellion, opposition and strike. They already lost land to the Muleveans half a century ago, even with their most powerful Alchemists and skilled Gunslingers, they were no match from the Muleveans' own. Only now to have Porfirio keep that power he hoards for himself and his closest allies to take hold of what used to be a bigger place.

Fransisco challenged Porfirio in the presidential elections, only to have Porfirio order supporters to arrest him. Crying out to the people, Fransisco wants them to overthrow the president and have Fransisco, their hero, to become the next president.

For almost a full year, It was tense, but no single person drew blood from that revolution; and soon Fransisco became the new president. Though not for long.

Immediately after taking office, another man by the name of Zapata and the peasants confront his regime. Given Porfirio's current position and the government, it cracked under its own weight with further regional rebellions, and eventually, Porfirio's Army Generals staged a takeover of the capital, inevitably forcing both Fransisco and vice president Pino to resign; only to be assassinated by those working for the new president: Huerta.

Mexico is once again a dangerous place, and something must be done about it. There's already people like Carranza and "Pancho" to be rid of Huerta, but there's four people time forgot about.

Jesse Gonzales Rodriguez: A Robber, trained by his father Jose Sanchez Rodriguez, who in turn is a descendant of the Aztecs and then the soldier who fought during the Mexican-Mulevean War. He was born from his mother Ursula, Jose's first wife.

Carlos Mathias Rodriguez: A logical Alchemist. He tests out and experiments on certain metals and elements to aid the revolutionists against Huerta. He was born from Antonia, Jose's second and current wife.

Catherine Joslyn Smith: A Mulevean Alchemist who got drafted into Mexico after the train she was travelling was hijacked by bandits near the border. The government chased off the bandits and sorted the civilians between those to return to the other side and those to draft them into the government. Though for Cat, she's persuaded to join the revolution against Huerta.

And lastly Dorothy Abigail Clark: a Texan Gunslinger who joined the revolution to get paid. Not long after drafting she meets up with El Rodriguez Hermanos (as they called themselves prior to meeting the two girls).

Together, with one goal in mind, they are El Negro Gatos (The Black Cats), striking at night to allow the revolution to advance into Mexico City and overthrow Huerta and eliminate his allies with their potions like temporary Werecat and invisibility, special weapons like elemental bullets, long guns, Rocket-Propelled Grenades, tripwires and just clinical logic to allow their fellow revolutionists to push forward onto the captial.

While they head further down the capital, Jesse and Carlos share a moment together, Jesse doubting about his birthright from a woman his father fell in love with and why he didn't come back to her. He hoped Jose would one day come back to her, but never. Carlos didn't even know he had a second mother, but acknowledged he has a half-brother, Jose never told Carlos about Ursula. It must be personal, like a war he must fight first before meeting his first love.

Still, the two brothers are grateful to have each other; and their two girls. Something Dorothy can agree upon, as well, particularly Jesse for being boldly foolish to go out into battle in such exuberant ways. She's the kind of woman who can both punch him in the face and kiss the spot she punched; because she sees him as crazy and she is. Crazy, yet heroic, not just for her, but for Mexico.

I guess she's getting to love fighting for this country than one where she came from, what used to be independent before the Muleveans annexed it.

Their friendship, brotherhood and love that started just one year after Fransisco took office, and then their war began when Huerta stepped in and killed the two men who once filled in.

During their travels, they've visited the towns and villages of the land, taking breaks to learn about the people oppressed by the forces of before, they can't be spending their exhausting lives just to take those two cities of this shrunken land.

They learn of the hardships, the broken promises and scorn against those who robbed them of their lives, their homes and their loved ones.

The Alchemists teach them how to use such talents to rebuild what they've lost for the time being until a new, better president takes over. And the Black Cats can now think of, especially for Dorothy, did she really join the revolution just to get paid? Or is this something more? Is there any more value than just money?

Well, yes.

Even if her ancestors never wanted to live with either Muleveans or Mexicans before, that was well over half a century passed. Times have changed and the same for people.

For Catherine, she never wanted to be part of this, using her alchemical skills with Carlos' to construct something destructive for the revolutionists makes her feel guilt and questioning if she's become like those War Alchemists who hate life and see it as an illusion or preparation for death. She doesn't want to die, she wants to live, live to go back home in the USM and use her Alchemy to heal people.

Little does she know of the fate for both the US and Mexico in the years to come, though.

And as for both Jesse and Carlos, they have to be in this war, whether their father approves or not, this is their land, and they must risk it all to keep their father and mothers alive, never to get caught in the crossfire. Nor are they in any good shape for this.

Meanwhile, a couple are already en route to meet up with one of the revolution groups, hearing word of their two sons about to capture the two cities. That is until they're gunned down by pro-government mercenaries, spraying them with flame bullets (not just shot, set on fire alive as, too).

With only the federal army standing in their way, the revolutionists make one last punch to reach both Morelos and Mexico City, no matter the cost. Ursula joins the battle as she got word that both Jose and Antonia were gunned down before they could reach safety. Ruining any chance to make amends with his father but already grown attached to his mother, he reluctantly accepts her into the battle for the two cities.

Within moments, the battle begins!

Both sides clashed each other to take control of either cities for all of Mexico. In one of the moments, Cat, seeing her four friends in dire trouble, steps in and sacrifices herself to save them, her last words being she only wanted to live.

While the revolution was a success and Huerta forced to flee to Spain, a funeral is being held privately by the Black Cats, burning her remains to make sure she won't rot away with no dignity. Ursula has a moment with her half-son Carlos and sends her condolences before him, which he accepts and embraces her. Followed by Jesse's own condolences and still having each other's back. And lastly, Jesse & Dorothy have a moment together, looking at the night sky and hoping that all they've fought for was for the absolute best.

But just as they won both cities from the Huerta Regime, the revolutionary armies decided to start fighting each other, particularly between Zapata, Carranza and Pancho.

What Jesse and Carlos did not expect was when Zapata kills Ursula, causing Jesse enraged and fight off the group, Carlos and Dorothy joining in. Carlos gets shot, leaving only both Jesse and Dorothy together in a building as their shelter. The two compare notes, going out on a suicidal rampage or stay in and wait for Zapata, Carranza or Pancho's goons to come right up to them, shooting at the couple just like what happened to both Jose and Antonia.

Dorothy resents that, instead wanting to go out, guns blazing and transformed into her Werecat to lay waste upon those double-crossing, backstabbing bastards who killed their friends and Jesse's mother, the same people they've aided in their assault against a corrupted government.

Jesse, having no better option, accepts Dorothy's idea and the two kiss before going back out on the count of one. Right in front of the very revolutionists gunning them down, regardless of Dorothy's transformation into the werecat.

In another life; Jesse, Dorothy, Carlos and Catherine lay down together under a tree. Getting a well deserved rest they've always wanted. But what time and place this is depends on your imagination.
