Farewell, Friend
IMPORTANT (yet interesting) STUFF: These lyrics can be sung to this Vietnamese song I love, "Tien Ban Len Duong" sung by Le Tam (from Asia's The Best of Chinese Melodies 2 CD, track 10), but it's originally from a Chinese song that just got rewritten for a Viet. singer--that's all I know. Anyway I enjoyed it so much that I decided to do an English version! I tried to keep to the Viet. lyrics, so it's not a complete translation...

Of course I have it, and if you'd like to hear the song, then let me know... but the file is an MP3--a full 4.04 MB.

If you're reading this, Mii-chan, it's dedicated to you... so when you come back, don't kill me now... and bring back lotsa anime, okie?

Farewell

written by K-chan

One quiet afternoon, a young woman paid the shoppe owner for a bouquet of red roses she had bought. She bid the older woman farewell and stepped outside into the bright sunlight, donning a pair of dark sunglasses. She wore a thin, dark-crimson cardigan over a white blouse and a khaki skirt, making her plain style like any ordinary citizen. But in reality she was hardly ordinary when her sparkling white hair made her stand out in any crowd.

As she walked down the sidewalk, she ignored the stares she was receiving, only because she had been used to them all her life. She pushed their scrutinizing eyes from her mind and carefully observed the busy roads of people and vehicles like any other day.

Minutes later, she hesitantly stopped in front of a park and watched the gentle breeze brush into the cherry blossom trees, sending a gush of pink petals into the blue skies. She watched as the petals danced with the wind, mesmerized by their simple beauty. She reached her pale hand out and effortlessly caught one in her grasp. Taking her sunglasses off, the pair of unnatural, golden eyes gazed down at the lonely petal in her palm...
You and I were the best of friends,
Sealing our lives into a single fate.
And Mira drifted back into her memories of happiness and sadness. She smiled when she caught his bluish-green eyes staring at her dressing form in the room. When Spencer's gaze returned to the laptop in front of him, she finished zipping up her black body suit and began to arm herself with necessary weapons.
From happy times to sad, fearing nothing in our path,
We pulled through to the end of our journey.
During one escape from a completed mission, Mira ran through the narrow alley until a motorcycle blocked her path. Smiling, she didn't hesitate to climb onto the back and wrapped her arms around his waist as her pursuers appeared and began to raid the alley with bullets. The vehicle took off, but no later were they chased by several motorcycles and two cars.
Now farewell, tracing your steps again,
These unsettled feelings left unspoken.

As the full moon hung overhead, the 'cat & mouse' game took them through the dark mazes of the slums. Gunshots echoed in the late night, missing the escaping pair every time. Not only was it difficult to aim, but Spencer wasn't about to let them have a single chance when he handled his motorcycle like a profession because he was just that.
A bell from faraway, like our parting is now here.
A "good-bye" must be said--a sad memory.
Mira had one good grip around his waist while her armed hand raised into the air at their pursuers. And she was an expert at what she did too. Anticipating her driver's maneveurs, she was able to get some good shots of her enemies, sending them down permanently.
The burdens that we carry with every step.
So long, I can't recall.
Eventually they were down to a single car that they couldn't shake loose. Mira held onto Spencer again as he made a wide u-turn and charged straight for the oncoming car. Both vehicles were shooting at each other, but neither were able to injury the other.
And silence stood between us with heavy thoughts.
Smiling, I see you off.
Mira's aim at the windshield managed to get the driver to swerve to the side, trying to dodge her bullets. The dangerous pair zoomed by the car, and the latter slowed down as it tried to make a u-turn. Spencer stopped the motorcycled as the two glanced back at the slow car.
But I'll take these mem'ries,
And keep them in my heart,
Gently embracing an unknown tomorrow.

Mira smiled, taking a priceless opportunity to repeatedly shoot the rear of the car, where the gas tank was, until the whole vehicle exploded into the night.
Whispers of sweet prayers,
And my one, final gaze,
They watched the fire blaze high into the air before the motorcycle took off again.
On your journey
To forever.
That was one of the exciting memories Mira shared with him. But now at that very moment, it was in her sad past along with the other memories she kept. She leaned towards the marked grave and placed the red roses down. Those flowers were certainly inappropriate for respecting the dead, but to her, the deep meaning of the red roses expressed her true feelings she was never able to tell him.
You have gone far ahead,
Leaving this life behind
To find your eternal peace from our darkness.
Kneeling in front of the tombstone, she slowly traced her delicate fingers over the engraved letters to his name: Spencer Arlez.
In these cold, sleepless nights,
Sadness gripping my heart,
Sorrow was written all over her face, but when she closed her eyes, no tears would come. It had taken years for her to stop crying at every thought of him, but now that she had succeeded, there was hope...
Someday, we'll meet
Once again.
The rain was coming down lightly as Mira stared up from her knelt position barely in reach of her gun on the ground, overlooking the end of the gun pointed at her head. Her body suit was ripped in some areas and stained with her blood and the blood of others. She ignored all of her surroundings except for the very man that she silently loved.

Spencer had her at his mercy with his blue eyes locking on her golden pair. They didn't know how long they had stood in the checkmate, but neither had made a move. It didn't matter what lead them to such a confrontation, but it was deceit and betrayal that one of them would have to live with if any at all survived. He could kill her at any moment, but he never did...

Because his own blood had splattered across Mira's shocking face before he could execute his unwilling, final mission. Snapping out of her brief shock, Mira grabbed her own gun as she caught the dying man in her free arm and impulsively shot the killer directly between his eyes. She ignored the falling body in the distant as she focused all her attention on Spencer, who was endlessly bleeding in her arms.
Now farewell, tracing your steps again,
These unsettled feelings left unspoken.
His hand slowly reached up to her wet face, uncertain if it was the rain or her own tears. She held his cold hand against her cheek, not caring for the frightening shivers it was causing in her body because what she feared the most was coming true: she was going to lose Spencer to Death. Of all the times she had escaped Death, she would willingly give up her own life now just to save his.

For the first time, Spencer could see pure pain etched in her beautiful eyes, but through his silent actions, he hoped she could forgive his betrayal and consoled her in preparation for his end. His sight soon became a blur, losing the vision of perfection before him. They had been through a lot together, and never was there a time when their feelings were spoken...
A bell from faraway, like our parting is now here.
A "good-bye" must be said--a sad memory.
Because they knew exactly how each other felt... through their gazes, their lips, and their touch. They had shared it all--body and soul--but now was the time for it to end as his hand limped within her hold, and his eyes slowly shut in his eternal rest.

Mira didn't break into an uncontrollable sob, but only silent tears graced her pale face, mixing bitter tears with the cold rain. She clutched his lifeless body to her own as if to merge him into herself in order to preserve what she had left of him.
The burdens that we carry with every step.
So long, I can't recall.
The tragic scene was empty of all sounds except the plattering of the rain, soon pouring down harder than before like it was now sympathizing with the girl's wretched emotions...
And silence stood between us with heavy thoughts.
Smiling, I see you off.
Mira had lived with those memories and pain for years, but now it was time for her that life to end. The tears would no longer come, and the sorrow wasn't a heavy burden like before. Perhaps the time for mourning was now over.

She smoothed out the front of her skirt before she stood up again, towering over his grave with a gentle expression, but she couldn't get herself to smile.
But I'll take these mem'ries,
And keep them in my heart,
Gently embracing an unknown tomorrow.

The wind picked up, blowing through her hair, and she closed her eyes, wrapping her arms around herself. She stood there for a few seconds, lingering in his spiritual embrace...
Whispers of sweet prayers,
And my one, final gaze,
And smiled... A faint yet genuine smile just for him because she knew he would always watch over her no matter what.
On my journey
To forever.
She gazed at the grave with complete serenity before she turned away, finally confident to move on with her life.
You have gone far ahead,
Leaving this life behind
To find your eternal peace from our darkness.
The breeze returned, stirring the roses at the tombstone and eventually scattering the red petals across the ground, as Mira's departing form blurred against the silent graveyard.
In these cold, sleepless nights,
Sadness gripping my heart,

Mira stepped through the gates, preparing to meet her new destiny, but she stopped as if someone told her to. With the breeze continuing, her hand had to push her untamed hair from her face.
Someday, we'll meet
Once again.
Something brushed up against her cheek, and she grabbed it before it disappeared. Her eyes were filled with curiosity when she gazed at a red rose petal in her hand, but then a smile adorned her face as if she knew what it meant. She brought it to her lips, kissing it tenderly, and then released it to the unpredictable breeze, knowing that one day she would see Spencer again.

Gosh, I hope that wasn't too depressing... Ah well, I know Mii-chan likes these kinda things... Yeah, she can be weird... in a good way!! Ahaha...

Ya know, I don't know where to stick this, but I guess it could still be part of Gundam Wing: PERFECTION that features Mii-chan and Spencie!
