Katherine sat on her bed with her head
in her hands, the phone sitting in front of her. "Should I tell him or
not?" She wondered to herself. She went to pick up the phone, but quickly
pulled back. She
was fighting an internal battle, because the night before
she had caught her best friend's girlfriend
making out with another guys. She didn't know whether
or not to tell him.
"Well, what's the worst that could
happen?" She asked herself outloud. In her mind she began to
think about what could happen if she told Mark about
Suzie.
~Situation 1~
Katherine picked up the phone and
dialed Mark's number. "Mark?" SHe asked when someone
picked up the phone.
"Hey, Katherine."
"Hi...." She paused. "Mark, I need
to talk to you about Suzie."
"What about her?"
"Well, last night I saw her at Mike
Jenkin's party making out with Brian Nelson." She waited for his response.
"You're kidding right? Please tell
me that you're kidding?" Mark pleaded with her.
"No. I'm sorry Mark."
"I can't believe her. I should've
expected it." He paused. "Thanks for telling me, Kathy. I'm so glad that
I have you for a friend."
Katherine smiled. "I'm glad that i
could help."
"Yeah, right..." Katherine laughed
at her own stupidity. "Things don't happen like that except on TV." Then
she imagined him reacting another way.
~Situation 2~
"You're telling me that my girlfriend,
Suzie, was cheating on me with Brian?"
"Yeah."
Mark laughed. "i can't believe you,
Katherine. I always knew that you were jealous of Suzie, but I
never realized that it was this bad."
"But-" Katherin started.
"No. I will NOT listen to you tell
viscious lies about my girlfriend."
"But-" Katherine tried again.
"No. I don't want to hear it. When
you can stop bad mouthing my girlfriend we'll talk again." And
with that he hung up on her.
"With my luck that'll be what happens."
Katherine shook her head. "What if I just didn't tell him?
He'd never have to know. But what if her found out that
I'd known about it and not told him?"
~Situation 3~
Mark came storming into Katherine's
room, his face pained. "Kathy, you'll never guess what Suzie
did to me."
"What?"
"She cheated on me with Brian at Mike's
party Saturday night."
"Yeah, I know..."
Mark turned to her slowly, his eyes
narrowed. "Did you just say, 'I know.'?" Katherine's eyes
widened as she sat there, her mouth agape. "You did!
You knew abou tit and you didn't tell me?
How could you? I thought that you were my best friend!"
He shook his head before running out of
the room, yelling after him, "I can't believe you, Kathy."
Katherine sighed and picked up the
phone. She quickly dialed Mark's number. "Hi, can I please
speak to Mark?"
A few seconds later Mark came on the
phone. "Hello?"
"Hey Mark. It's Katherine. I need
to talk to you."
"Okay...About what?"
Katherine cleared her throat. "First
of all I have a question for you."
"Shoot."
"Have you ever wondered which hurt
the most; saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing and
wishing you had?"
"Why?"
"Because I have something to tell
you about Suzie and I'm afraid of you hating me."
"I could never hate you, Kathy."
Katherine took a deep breath. "Okay,
last night I saw Suzie at Mark's party..."
