Glassroom wash em down,
see the stories of a tired town
written like the lipstick on the glass.
Dregs of liquor swirling round,
hopes and dreams are draining down,
stories that were told, or never came to pass.

See the girl slumped over there
disappearing through her chair
waiting for her fella to come by
he left her a week ago
her glass is full, only half beer tho
alcohol diluted by the tears she's had to cry.

See her fella walking by
hands on his newest girl's thigh
whisp'ring lines his lips have told before
doesn't stop to ask her how
she is coping with things now
so she sobs a little and her glass dilutes some more.

Glassroom wash em down,
see the stories of a tired town
written like the lipstick on the glass.
Dregs of liquor swirling round,
hopes and dreams are draining down,
stories that were told, or never came to pass.

Sits and stares into her cup
no energy to pick it up
suddenly she hears a gentle voice
come on girl now don't be sad
things are never all that bad
even if they are, you can live or not, your choice

She pushes her glass away
Tear stains on clear display
with the smeared lipstick round the rim
starts to talk about what's wrong
to this man who came along
As she talks her pain and hurt slowly start to dim.

Glassroom wash em down,
see the stories of a tired town
written like the lipstick on the glass.
Dregs of liquor swirling round,
hopes and dreams are draining down,
stories that were told, or never came to pass.

Closing time, she takes his hand
he pulls her up and helps her stand
walks her home and gently says goodnight
then he turns and strolls away
his good deed done for the day
he is feeling better now, he knows she'll be alright.

Glassroom wash em down
see the stories of a tired town
written like the lipstick on the glass
dregs of liquor swirling round
hopes and dreams are draining down
stories that were told, or never came to pass.
