Hope
So intangible it was as told with near monotone from square speaker;
Almost bored as heads swiveled with disinterest, assumptions easy to convince
only a dull announcement of emergency numbers and profession location.
Only to reiterate a change of bus, to prevent an unnecessary fuss
It can't happen to me
Not me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
And with the shock came disbelief, numb with tears and palpable grief.
And with the news went self control, comfort failing to take a toll
So desolate those who knew the dread, starting deep with just a thread.
So despaired who knew of parents place
Hoping for a miraculous fate
It can't happen to me
Not me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Hijacked planes dove for marks, decimation accompanied with sparks
Flaming steel and shattered glass, so fade away did wood and brass
Spreading fire without tire, bodies leap in frantic retire
Stampeding crowds of appalled nature,
Refusing acceptance of that seen
It's can't happen to me
Not me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Too soon the follow of collapse, far too many left entrapped
Imploding giants quick to fall, near and far now with ash so tall
Adulteration of pristine air, gasping breaths too few to spare
And smacking feet rushed here to there
Some to death, while flee most with fear
It can't happen to me
Not me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Pentagon and others too, left to grasp for meaning through
webs of pain and tribulation clawing now with desperation
Beg for an answer, plea for reason, anguish to pang as a cancer
Anger fueled by sorrow deep, tearing voids with knives too steep
It can't happen to me
Not to me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Those now left stripped bereft, struggling to find that inside
Which might solve the troubles and ease the pain, release the panic and the strain
Words shall never justify it, deeds can never recompense
Loss is loss, and life once gone, can never return, never resurrect
It can't happen to me
Not to me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Yet presence of the departed ones shall forever linger,
Within remains the shard to remember
Forget we cannot, and it must be remembered
The calamity that struck the astonished nation
Have hope, my friends, have hope
It can't happen to me
Not to me, for you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be
Have hope, for without there alone lays despair
Onward laughter, for without remains just tears
Love again, feel once more
To shun shall release only a pained core
worse yet
The vacancy of a numb cavity
It can't happen.
Not to me, For you see
It's safe here, so I plea
Let me be, Let me be.
Be strong, valiant youths, in face of the pending chance of destruction
In face of the tremendous loss of disastrous results
For God surrounds, will be always, and forever remains
With You.
