The Girl I knew
By JerseyGirl

The girl I knew loved pigtails,
And bright dresses and shoes.

The girl I knew loved to dance.
And skips, with her head up, down the street.

The girl I knew prized her mother.
And listened to every word I say.

The girl I knew has her head in the clouds,
And she always, even though she hides it, a smile.

Now the girl I knew became,
The girl I used to know.

The girl I used to know has a messy ponytail
And wear dark pants and old sneakers.

The girl I used to know stands in the corner.
And walks, with her head down, down the street.

Nowadays she think's I'm a ghost,
And does not listen to anything I say.

But the girl I used to know still has her head in the clouds,
And she's always, even though she hides it...

...a smile.
