A/N: I wrote this poem during a German lesson on a foggy day in November. Our teacher gave us the poem from Herman Hesse below (read it if you understand German! It's a beautiful one - the title translated would be something like "Misty".). I decided to write another poem with starting each line with the same word as Hesse´s. So don't think about it when it sounds a bit strange sometimes - the word order in German is quite different from the English one!

Musings

Strange is it to be in love.

Lonely are you if the other doesn't see,

No one knows how you feel,

Everyone thinks you are okay.

Full of joy the world is

As you think the other notices.

Now and then, though,

Is the world dark again.

Truly no one understands

Who doesn't know the feeling

That is unfulfilled love.

From woman to man, from man to woman.

Strange it is to be in love.

Life is lovely if you are.

No one has lived really without experiencing.

Everyone has to love one time.

Im Nebel

Seltsam im Nebel zu wandern!

Einsam ist jeder Busch und Stein,

Kein Baum sieht den anderen,

jeder ist allein.

Voll von Freunden war mir die Welt,

Als noch mein Leben licht war;

Nun, da der Nebel fällt,

Ist keiner mehr sichtbar.

Wahrlich keiner ist weise,

Der nicht das Dunkel kennt,

Das unentrinnbar und leise

Von allen ihn trennt.

Seltsam, im Nebel zu wandern!

Leben ist Einsamsein.

Kein Mensch kennt den anderen,

jeder ist allein.
