A world trapped between two suns.
It spins on its axis- always in one place.
And scientists observe that noone
could ever live in that part of space.

For the globe it spins between two extremes
an orb of nightmares and one of dreams
and each one it faces paints a scene
drastically different than previously had been.

The world has one tortured continent.
It circles its planet in an 8 hour day.
It spends four hours neath the glare
of each sun and four more facing away.

The continent travels through two extremes
subjected to nightmares and then to dreams
and each star forces on it a scene
drastically different than previously had been.

And uninhabitable though this planet must
surely be- according to scientists-
by some strange agency a people
on the surface do exist.

The people travel between extremes
subjected to nightmares and then to dreams
and each star forces them to act scenes
drastically different than any they've yet seen.

Now the scientists have made a breakthrough
and learned to communicate across space.
They manage to make contact with the planet's
extraordinary, contradictory race.

They talk to the people at both extremes
as they pass through nightmares and then through dreams
and as each one passes through the varying scenes
A discrepancy is gradually seen.

It would seem that this planet's people are
not native to this troubled sphere
there is no resident population,
they appear and then they disappear.

They record the peoples at both extremes
as they pass through nightmares and then through dreams.
They record the names in each strange scene
and a pattern in discrepancies soon is seen.

The scientists note that each individual
serves but a single rotation
Then leaves the planet for a further three
before returning to their station.

So they ask the people at both extremes
why they pass through nightmares and then through dreams
and they ask each actor in each strange scene
where they have, in the other three rotations, been.

But the strange and distant people
cannot comprehend what is meant
It seems they don't remember where the rest
of their lives are spent.

All they know is they pass through two extremes
the one of nightmares, and the other dreams
They believe they are actors playing out their scenes
and they have no idea where else they have been.

So dialogues continue on 'tween ourselves and
that distant strange part of space
Spiriscopes detect changing souls and we search
for the home of the Human Race

who spend eight hours going through extremes
trapped in nightmares or in dreams
in bizarre and frankly terrifying scenes
then disappear to reappear not knowing where they've been.
