The Price of Fame.

"Ergh!" Summer Jones pulled her arm up over her head, and covered her eyes from the morning sun. It took her a minute to realise that her telephone was ringing and it was that which woke her. Groggily she reached for the phone on her bedside table and answered it roughly.

"Hello?" she turned onto her side and looked at the clock. Five AM. She groaned.

"Is that anyway to greet your best friend?" she smiled at the familiar voice. One she hadn't heard for a while. Hearing him made her sit up in her bed and get comfortable.

"It is when he calls me at five in the morning." She laughed and she heard him chuckle.

"How you been Sunny?" he asked and she grimaced at the life long nickname.

"You know I'm good. I miss you."

"I miss you too. You know we're coming home soon." He could hear the grin she now had plastered on her face.

"No shit? How long for?" she heard him laugh at her tone. She couldn't wait to see him.

"No shit! For about a month. We have some recording and stuff to do."

"When? Soon? Man I can't wait to see you guys again."

"Next week. Tuesday… and I bet there is one of us in particular you can't wait to see." He teased and she blushed dispite not wanting to.

"Shut up Adam! I don't like him like that." She didn't sound very convincing, not even to herself.

"Yeah yeah. I know you do… I've known you forever. Shit girl I know you better then I know myself." He paused and listened to her laugh, it was quite possibly true. Growing serious he got onto the second reason he called her. "I also know that he likes you." Her laughter stopped and she started to play with the ring on her thumb. He wasn't there but he knew that she doing it.

"Adam! Don't ok…"

"Sunny! I just don't get it. You like him, he totally likes you. Why can't you just go out with him? Just once."

"You know why… it's bad enough only seeing my best friend when he's touring my town, I don't want that with my boyfriend to."

"So just because he's in a band you won't see him? Sunny that is the worst excuse."

"Yeah well it's the way I feel ok… I can't be with someone I never see. Someone that is surrounded by beautiful woman day in day out. That's stress I don't need."

"You know he is not like that! I can't believe you, you know he wouldn't hurt you."

"I don't want to talk about it anymore. I'll see you Tuesday." She said and hung up the phone. Everytime he came home from touring he would do the same thing. Try and convince her to go out with Shaun. She sighed and decided that she may as well get up now that she was awake. She stopped at the door and looked at her poster of 'Consious of Sin'. Playing a concert for angels and devils, was Adam on lead guitar, Wes on bass and Shaun on the drums. It was her favourite picture of the guys. But right now looking at it gave her mixed emotions. They were her three best friends, a world famous rock band and a major pain in her ass.

"Did you talk to her?" Shaun asked as Adam walked into his hotel room. He was sitting writing songs while Wes was out with some girl he met at their concert the night before. Adam sat on the bed next to him and gave a small smile.

"Yeah… she's glad we're coming home… she misses us." He hated this. He knew how much Shaun liked Summer. He had had a crush on her since the last year of high school, he wanted nothing more then to see them together, but maybe it was time that Shaun moved on.

"But?" this is the bit he hated. Everytime Adam called Summer it was the same.

"She still won't go out with you."

"Because of the band?" He watched his friend nod and sighed. "The price of fame huh?" he went back to writing on the old notebook he had had for years. He scribbled out words. Put new ones in, and then surprising them both threw it across the room. He stood up and ran his hands through his short brown curly hair.

"I hate this." He shouted, and took a seat on the edge of the bed and rested his head in his hands. Adam shifted and placed his hand on his friend's shoulder for comfort.

"I'm sorry man… I really am. I tried talking to her, I kinda understand where she's coming from too… maybe you should just forget about her… move on."

"That's easier said then done. I've liked her for three years man. If I could stop liking her I would, it's like I don't have a choice here." They both sighed and Adam stood to pick up the notebook from the floor. He read over the words. And nodded his head in approval.

"It's good… you got the tune for it?" and that's how they spent the night. Working on new songs, the same thing they always did to get their mind of girl's troubles.
