I remember back when
I was a little girl.
More an uncut opal
Than a precious pearl.

Voices in the wind,
Whispering of my past.
Voices in the wind,
Quick come, gone as fast.

I was a Tomboy.
I out-ran all the guys.
But I could not ignore
The call of the skies.

Voices in the wind,
Sighing in my ear.
Voices in the wind,
So far and yet so near.

Active imagination
Always running wild.
Never was I known as
A normal little child.

Voices in the wind,
A long-forgotten life.
Voices in the wind,
Cutting like a knife.

Dreaming of elves,
Windwolves, and mages.
Dragons soaring high.
Imagination rages.

Voices in the wind,
The magic seems to call.
Voices in the wind,
The Power rises tall.

What is my true history?
I see only fragments.
The rest is barred from me
With a mental fence.

Voices in the wind,
From a long ago age.
Voices in the wind,
Crying of a mage.

Swirling lights of color.
Vivid dreams of flight.
Sometimes in the day,
Not just in the night.

Voices in the wind,
Lightening seems to strike.
Voices in the wind,
I hear the calling shrike.

Into a semi-trance.
Into a dream-like state.
A flashing picture of the Power,
Then an overwhelming hate.

Voices in the wind,
Anger fills my heart.
Voices in the wind,
Pain tears me apart.
