The Disappointment
Once a man and woman had a baby girl instead of the boy that they wanted. They wanted a boy so that when he grew up he would help his father on their farm. They were very disappointed when the girl they got was not the boy they wanted.
The young girl was a blessing in her parent's home. A sweet memory that the girl's mother and father always kept lovingly in their hearts was the time their daughter, in spite of the pricks and bleeding scratches, picked her mother a beautiful blooming rose.
Unfortunately, the twist in this story is that when the man and woman's sweet little girl was seven years old, she went for a ride on her pony and never came back. When her parents went and looked for her they found her small lifeless body and her pony running loose. As far as they could tell by looking, there little girl's pony had been frightened and had thrown her. When she landed, the little girl's neck had hit a large boulder and broken it. Her mother and father were so angry they had a group of men kill the pony.
They mourned over their little girl's death and when they had the baby boy that they wanted they were not soothed.
The man and woman learned how to let God help them through the hard times and to love what God gives them , and not hate him for taking something that they loved away from them.
In time they learned to love their new baby boy , and whenever they began to blame things on God they reminded each other of their late little girl.
