It's impossible to believe anymore --
we know everything nowadays:
how the Earth turns, how people are formed,
why they're sick, why they're well,
how insignificant we really are.

It's so old-fashioned to believe nowadays--
the latest theories have been dissected,
discussed in the most elite circles,
printed up in weekly magazines,
until they're as substantial as the wind.

And yet people still believe --
despite their torture and scars,
breaking free of rational thought,
they pray, alone and yet not lonely,
doomed to darkness, yearning for light.
