It's Springtime and all the birds are building their nests.
Attracting their mate and then doing their best
laying eggs to ensure lots of offspring survive.
Keeping them warm so they'll hatch out alive.

Baby Bird you're too small now to make it alone
You can't fly the nest until you're fully grown.
I won't push you out, you would fall to the ground.
Stay safe here with me dear, no need to go down.

It's Summer now and Baby Bird looks up to the sky.
All the other nestlings are learning how to fly,
Their mother's pushed them from the nest, encouraged them to start
but Baby Bird's Momma just doesn't have the heart.

Baby Bird you're too small now to make it alone
You can't fly the nest until you're fully grown.
I won't push you out, you would fall to the ground.
Stay safe here with me dear, no need to go down.

It's Autumn here and all the other birds are flying away
but Baby Bird he don't know how so in the nest he stay.
And Momma Bird won't leave him here to fend all on his own
She still thinks he's far too youn, not yet fully grown.

Baby Bird you're too small now to make it alone
You can't fly the nest until you're fully grown.
I won't push you out, you would fall to the ground.
Stay safe here with me dear, no need to go down.

Winter hits and Baby Bird he don't last very long.
Momma don't survive either, she simply ain't that strong.
She tries to save her son, gave him all she had to give
except a push. Once he had died she lost the will to live.

Baby Bird you're too small now to make it alone
You can't fly the nest until you're fully grown.
I won't push you out, you would fall to the ground.
Stay safe here with me dear, no need to go down.
