SEE YOU LATER

It was my first day of school

And I was all alone

You came towards me

And asked for my name

That was how it started

Those long talks on the phone

Our common interests

We both wanted to be the next Hollywood star

Hanging out everyday

I took all of it for granted

I never stopped to think of you moving away

But then one day late in the summer

You called me and told me that your dad got a job

Not that far away

A job? It was always about the money.

We pleaded for you to stay but you couldn’t

After you moved, we talked every day

I thought that it wouldn’t be so bad

It was as if you never even left

Everything was normal

Or at least I tried to think it was

Now as I sit writing this poem

I realize that if everything was so normal

I would be on the phone with you right now
