Skeleton Eyes –

(A poem on the theme of eating disorders)

Freezing hands,

Freezing feet,

Aspirations we should

Never wish to meet.

One huge, lonely eye

Peers through the curtain crack,

It's you normal people

She is staring at.

Enlarged by that face

With the grey, drawn skin,

Exiled by you healthy people,

Staring in.

Scared and ashamed,

She turns back around

And bows her head;

A tear drops to the ground.

THIS is pain,

THIS is doubt,

You people don't know what

This is all about.

Feeling worthless,

She walks away,

Upstairs to the bathroom,

What she does never pays.

You don't all know

What she and I do,

And we hide it all inside,

For the sakes of you.

So here she sits,

Lonely

Skeleton

Eyes,

In the deepest of depressions,

The lonely skeleton cries.
