White Boy

I am the lighter brother.
I have pushed others into the kitchen.
I have sung America.

But, not a day goes by where I wish I didn't.

I have wept.
But no white boy can sing the blues.

I've had dreams defered.
But I hear no boogie-woogie rumble;
I don't see it dry up in the sun.

And I am still the stronger brother.
And they still sit in the kitchen.

Not a day goes by where I wish they didn't.
