Only In Acting Class:

In my first year of acting, I could tell things were going to be a little strange. When I was assigned to do/write a scene with a girl named Elena and my crush, I knew it would be interesting. He gave Elena the character name….Winkie. The name stuck. Not long after Nimue and I were given a group assignment with Winkie to create a super hero. Our character, Supar Winkie, was used for a number of assignments afterwards. Elena was Supar Winkie, the super hero who really wasn't. All she was was the invisionment of a blonde ditz. I myself was Kangaroo Boy, a girl forced to be her sidekick against her own wishes. My "outfit" wouldn't even move. I would just watch as Winkie defeated Nemesis (Nimue) time and time again with her toothbrush of destruction and . Until we had to do a puppet show. I turned over to Nemesis's side. And then we were given the assignment to do a movie preview. The movie was The Rescue of Kangaroo Boy, introducing Dinosaur Girl, Winkie's biggest fanboy and new sidekick.

That summer, Winkie moved away. I still think of her, and miss her. But more acting classes came…During the second year of acting, Nimue and I teamed up with Tsunoiya, Recca, Zhang and Paul the lights monkey to create one of the more stranger groups in the class. Let's see what happened. Zhang earned himself the nickname "Curtain Monkey Psuedo Midget Chicken Boy" and Paul became the Tic Tac Toe Toll Tree Troll (say that five times fast.) Men were commonly seen to act like they were stripping. We would talk aloud in class as long as the teacher didn't have much to say, and what were Our Seats weren't necessarily Our Chairs. Tsunoiya and I found comfort sitting upon the desktops.

I saw my first Rated R movie in Acting class. Our teacher would show them due to the fact they had good actors/cinematography. During our lunch period, we were free to go into the classroom for half an hour and watch whatever station we liked. Sometimes one side of the class got it and we watched MTV or BET. Other times they would suffer through our Comedy Central. We began to play along with Beat The Geeks whenever we got it.

Another big thing was skipping. Our acting class was huge, and our teacher laid back. You could stay back at lunch and not return to the class, he wouldn't notice…unless he had something to say to you. But then he never enforced punishment.

Of course, we had the not-straight people in acting class. Two of them I knew of. One was the best dancer in school and a widely known crossdresser, but he sure had good clothing tastes! The other was just plain cool. Some people would just start singing in the middle of the period, or demonstrate a dance move on the floor. It didn't matter, we'd watch, laugh, applaud. Spontaneity was perfectly acceptable as long as the teacher wasn't talking.

The last few days of the year were some of the best. We got in a new shipment of clothing for plays, and everyone enjoyed digging through them. Tsunoiya and I came up with a gorgeous wedding dress and a blue Tutu. When we took them out to show the others in the auditorium, Recca and Zhang had to fight over who got what. They both climbed into them over their over clothes and went outside for the rest of the period, accosting anyone who passed. There's a picture of them on the bulletin board in the classroom. Also, Tsunoiya brought her pet duck puppet to school on the very last day for a play. After we had gone, the rest of our insane mass of people had fun molesting the poor puppet. By the end of the exam period, the poor duck had been sneezed on, kissed, and become a part of a mysterious plot by a student named Duckfinger. It was up to agent Recca to stop him! Unfortunately, we had to say our farewells.

I'm out of the loop now, taking an AP course instead of the acting I wanted to be in. I miss them all, of course, but I'm enjoying what I do. I'm involved with other programs, and still work with the school. But it will never be the same without Recca, Zhang, Nimue and Tsunoiya together in acting class. (Especially since THEY'RE the ones dressing up and getting on the morning news while I have to watch and miss them all =( )

Note: These things are actually true events from acting class over the past two years I've been involved. The dress incident was very recent (and very fun =D). The duck puppet thing just happened today. Two hours in one class with a duck puppet and a bunch of crazy people can be very fun……
