The Predator

Standing in the shadows

On a moonlit night

A predator waits patiently

Until the time is right.

An innocent victim comes alone

To drink from the stream of corruption

Heedless of the predator

And his pressing need for consumption.

A movement to the side

And a shaft of moonlight

Reveals the predator

Clearly in her sight.

Darkness swallows the world

And the innocent sees no more

In her ear she hears the laughter

Of the predator.

Death upon the ground

And the silence of a scream

A corpse in the water

And blood in the stream.
