bittersweet

Bittersweet is reaped
When seeds we sow.
I run to the dawn
But am not alone;
I fled to the sea,
And I found you there,
I hid in the earth-
Silence only's fair-
And I hurt you,
And you hurt me,
And that's the way it goes:
We live and cry
In a world that lies
And our living is so cold!
How can we try
When this world defies
Everything we know?
How can we die
When we have not lived?
How can they take
All we have to give?
We cry, we die
But we have not loved:
We try, they lie-
This life is wrong.
And when life is wrong
What is left to say?
We cannot fear-
My heart I lay
Upon your heart:
Now go your way.
We'll meet again-
This alone I know.
Bittersweet is reaped
When seeds we sow.
