As of writing this, Tome is still an RPG under construction. The scheduled start date is the 30th of this month. The threads will have an overarching story to them, unlike "San Dorado." Tome is part of a series set parallel to the history in my "Father of Lights" universe. It takes place in an alternative 1300 BC, after the fall of Atlantis/Kaftor (Minoan civilization). Minoan civilization is believed by many real life archaeologists to be the historical basis for the Atlantis myths. However, a supervolcanic eruption around this time blasted the civilization to the bottom of the sea. While remnants of it lingered on for another century (and these refugees are believed to be the "Sea Peoples" or Hykos that destroyed civilization around 1200 BC), Atlantis ended then. The ancient Greeks got the legend of Atlantis from the Egyptians, who knew the island as "Kaftor" or the "Minoan" civilization on modern-day Crete. This is an alternative historical and fantasy based take on the "fall of Atlantis" inspired by the game "Myst" and the "Library of Babel" by Jorge Luis Borges. More details on the world can be found posted as "Background" threads.

A few notes:

There are a number of issues I feel to be addressed before starting. This list will be updated as these issues are resolved:

-NPCs: A few NPCs need to be worked out. These include 3-5 notable figures for Moderate and Radical writers in the Library of Worlds, as well as some (apparent) neutrals. Also, 3-4 main NPCs for each tomeworld should be developed. Some ideas are already posted on the character threads line. We can broadly separate our NPCs into "Real World"/Librarians and Characters/Tome-world dwellers.

-PCs: The PCs will be characters of the "Victim" NPC. We need to resolve if they should come from an existing tomeworld or a destroyed one, or were created from scratch (without a world).

-Storyline: Pacing is already worked out. Exploring each tome-world will be an arc (or series of chapter threads), and interlude chapters set in the "real world" (the Library of Worlds) to update the characters on the murder mystery.

-Recruitment: That is, recruiting some decent writers that may be interested in the RPG. If you have any friends that may be interested, feel free to bring them.

-Characters: Mary Sues will not be tolerated, as will those who create them. Random homicidal characters are also discouraged, although a selective serial killer or coldly pragmatic sociopath may be better characters. Many of the minor villain NPCs will be the equivalent of self-writing Mary Sues.

That said, feel free to post away with your ideas and thoughts.

Didn't want to send individual PMs or set up a thread, but everyone, can we try and stick to present tense when posting, please? Follow Jave's example and write as if the characters are experiencing things in real time.
