How to make a mystery
How do we create a story that absorbs a reader while leaving must of the narrative restricted so they have to piece together the clues? Discuss here.

It's difficult for me to write a mystery without being obvious. How do you all write in enough curves to keep things mysterious?

Try to use ideas or objects that could pertain to at least 3 or more characters. Don't use something that is specific to your "bad guy."

If you're doing a serial killer you could have one completely unrelated murder and have the killer be caught only to be revealed the real serial killer is still on the loose.
