Name of Colony: The Confederacy of Sesaba. Sesaba is their native language for People of Ash.

Name of Founding City (if different): Seret. In Sasaban, Seret directly translates to City of Iron. The capitol city is located directly on the small inlet to the ocean at the very east of the territory, and is a port city. However, Seret is mostly known for the prestiged military academies that have branches there.

Location of Founding Colony (Latitude by Longitude and description): 9, 20

Administration (how its run, what kind of government): The Confederacy is a Parliamentary Democracy, and is loosely united in 11 different districts. These districts have equal power, with the parliament, which has 13 seats, being the basic lead. The parliament is male and female, about equal in numbers, currently 7 males and 6 females. The executive branch's head is the Prime Minister, whom is elected by the parliament. The citizens have no say in who becomes the president. The military is ranked, with few exceptions, in the same way. The captain is the head of the unit, followed by a lieutenant, and there are 13 seated officers after this. However, enlisted men are not given a rank. Officers that are not seated are given ranks of O1-O9 but there are no equivelents of the United States' military in this---meaning that O1 is literally Officer One.

History of Expedition (how it got started): The expedition was started due to such severe overpopulation in the home country that 5000 people were sent to create a new colony. After that, thousands started to migrate, although several hundred died due to the acid smoke.

Population (remember that a food icon supplies enough food for 7500 people): 9000. There is a higher amount of males than females and the birth rate is about 100 children a year. + 5000 immigrants.

Composition of Expedition (What kinds of people were sent, How prepared are they?): All of the people that had been sent to The Confederacy of Sesaba as a colony were highly prepared, with the gift of being able to control smoke, ash, and metal. Within about 5 standard months the large, polluted capital city of Seret had been created and they moved on until all of the original colony was industrialized.

Equipment Upon Arrival (Anything out of the ordinary like ships, weapons, machinery): The Sesabans, a very developed culture, and came with hundreds of steel and iron beams, stone, coal, and hammers, tools, and slate. They also came with Kiffir, large, thick furred equines with powerful shoulders inherently created for pulling and supporting the collar of such things due to the industrialized nature of The Confederacy of Sesaba. The Kiffir are about 10 feet at the shoulder and can weigh above 3 tons, and are mainly grayish or red roan with black fleabite markings. However, they brought few organic things with them, and food was the only main thing that was brought, out of bare necessity. They started with 3 factories that the motherland helped them construct, and after those, along with stone roads and the Candidate Schools, were created, they began to fend for themselves.

Technology Level: The technology level is extremely high in the Confederacy of Sesaba, and there are no rural areas in the colony. Factories and shipyards can be seen wherever anybody looks due to their size, but because of this, there is a very high pollution rate. Little efforts have been made to stop the pollution as most Sesabans carry a natural immunity to it. However, the cloud of CO2 and CO has begun to encroach on the areas around them, which has caused conflict. None of the residents have ever seen plants in their lives due to the lack of sunlight, bad air, poisoned soil, and completely covered land. There is no visible soil, because it is all covered in stone roads. The runoff gets into the rivers and ocean around Sesaba, and the water is brown and acidic. The main drinking source of Sesabans, it is filthy beyond repair. There is no sunlight because a thick layer of gray clouds of smoke and emissions from ships and smokestacks has completely covered the sky, with a lower layer of brownish-gray smog covering most of the city streets. This high level of pollution is caused by high amounts of usage of the factories, as well as burning extreme amounts of coal instead of using magic.

-Important Technologies: The main guns used in the Confederacy of Sesaba are large, muzzle-loading rifles. There 3 factories that manufacture these, and a large steel barricade is being built around the nation to prevent invasion, although the pollution rate is enough of a deterrent as it is. The factories create very high amounts of pollution due mainly to the way that they are run. Although the muzzle loading rifles are less efficient than other guns, their main attribute is that they are supplied with Acid bullets of a very high pH, which are created with the acidity in the water after an episode of acid rain.

Another important technology for the Sesabans is the Carbon Gun. These guns, created by the Research and Developement Platoon, are not shaped as a gun in a traditional sense. They contain a gas mask that is forced onto the victim's mouth and nose, making them a close range weapon, and have a canister of compressed CO atatched to the mask. There is a lever, a metal bar to be more exact, near the top of the can, that acts as a safety valve and a trigger. When the Carbon Gun is used, the lever is hit with a large amount of force with the heel of the hand. The way that the lever is designed is that there is a metal plate that blocks the canister's exit. When the lever is hit forward, it moves the valve into a diagonal tilt, allowing compressed CO to escape.

Recently, CO loaded shells have been created for the use by the military of New Survaek. The original concept was created by a Survaekom, but the plans are being constructed (and the bullets are being manufactured) by The Confederacy of Sesaba. These, along with several other different mechanisms, are being sold by the Sesaban government in exchange for coal, iron, and stone.

Magic System: There is no known magic in The Confederacy of Sesaba, because for the most part the gene that allows users to conduct magical energy was never found. However, was there to be magic in The Confederacy of Sesaba, it would be the type of magic that all of the original settlers had, the ability to control and shape metal, smoke, and ash. This is immensely useful in their environment, as one would suspect.

-Capabilities: Controlling metal, smoke, and ash is a powerful skill to have in a severely over industrialized world, and allows faster creation of new technologies and so forth. Smoke and ash can be used to blind the enemy due to its acidic properties in their land, thus are mostly attack.

-Weaknesses: Seeing as there are no Sesabans that currently carry the ability, it is of absolutely no use to them. However, in the time that it did exist it was known to cause blood damage to the users, and if repeatedly used cut their expected lifespan down to about 25.

-Effects on user: It harms the blood and heart because it allows the pollution to enter more readily while they use it.

Basic Info: An extremely heavily industrialized nation in comparison to its size, the Confederacy of Sesaba is beyond polluted and even more advanced in technology. The pollution has gotten to the point of the sun no longer being visible due to the constant smog and deep gray clouds that cover the entire sky, blocking out anything else. The water is filthy from runoff that has not been controlled at all, because the natives, an offshoot of the human race, have such powerful livers and intestines that the pollutants and acids in the water are naturally broken down, the main adaptation that allows them to live the way that they do. Resistant to the toxins of Carbon dioxide and Carbon Monoxide that they consistently inhale, the residents' alveoli are able to reject the toxins, naturally cleaning themselves in the form of black mucus that is coughed up every four hours in the same way that an owl coughs up a pellet. There are no plants in Sesaba because all of the ground is covered in stone and steel, and because the colony has been existent for so long, there are no longer any generations that have ever seen plants in their lives. There are, however, animals with similar adaptations to the polluted environment as Sasabans.

They are atheistic in religion and have no deities or codes of honor that they go by. Sesabans tend to view more religious nations with disgust and pity at what they consder ignorance. They do not wait for things to happen, rather, they do them themselves. There was not a religion in the mother country, either, and thus that was how it was 'spread'.

Imports: Coal, Iron, Stone, Food.

Exports: Biological weapons, standard weapons, textiles, metal objects of varying types, lethal injections, medical equiptment, statues.

Sesabans As a Species--a Detailed Account of Social and Biological Information for Reference

I. Stages of Life and Developement Through Adulthood

Sesabans go through the basic stages of life that an average, healthy human would, with those being Infant, Child, Teenager, Young Adult, Adult, and Elderly. They can usually talk fairly early on, from anywhere from two to two and a half years, but they do not walk until they are three and a half at the minimum, due to the density of their bones (the child will not have enough strength to move freely until this age. For some, it takes more or less time, depending on the individual.) The child's bones will develop rapidly until they are an adult, and then stop almost completely, making it near impossible for a broken bone in an adult to heal. During this time, children almost always complain of bone pains; little can be done to soothe this and it is considered the Sesaban equivelent of teething (they do not teethe, as due to the long gestation period the child's teeth are fully developed at birth).

The species tends to go through puberty later than humans do, at the average age of fifteen to seventeen, once again depending on the individual. During this time, males' voices become deeper, and, if tuned, would be bordering on flat to natural. Their shoulders become sharper, as do their joints. Females' joints tend to do the opposite and smooth out, and their voices border on sharp to natural when tuned. Their figures will fill out and their faces tend to become thinner, and the individual's lasting characteristics as an adult are seen at this time. By the age of twenty on an average, both genders are physically matured.

II. Basic Physical Characteristics

Surprisingly, Sesabans have long lifespans compared to humans due to the strength of their organs and density of their bones, and can live from anywhere from one hundred to two hundred years. They have very strong skeletal structures, with thick joints to support their weight and additional weight, and have keen infrared vision. However, their bones, when broken as an adult, hardly ever heal, and thus the effect that a broken leg has is similar to the effect in a horse; usually the limb is amputated. High levels of Oxygen physically harm their lungs and alveoli, and their eyes, developed for a dark enviornment, can be blinded by direct sunlight. Their skin, void of any melanin, is paper white, and they are severely prone to Sun Poisoning, also known as Vitamin D Poisoning.

Hair color in the Sesabans ranges from solid white, which is extremely rare, to the more common solid black, as well as any mixture of the two and a very large variety of grays. Their hair is straight and coarse, and lacks any sheen whatsoever as it is naturally dry, and their enviornment only adds to this. Most males and females have long hair, and it tends to be no shorter than chin level with few exceptions. They grow very little body hair besides their legs and arms, and it is a known fact that males are unable to grow facial hair.

Their eyes are almond shaped and range from blue to gray, and posess a unique third eyelid that moves upwards from the bottom of the eye, quite similar to that of a North American Bullfrog to protect their eyes from high levels of acidity. The Haw, as it is called, is a translucent gray, enough to make the eye look only misted over with a fog when it is fully in place. They have vestigial eyelashes, as the Haw does the job of cleaning out the eye, and see very well in the dark, due to infrared vision. Their pupils dilate as a human's would, although they react much more radically to light.

Females stand from 5' 9" to 6' 5", and males stand from 6' 3" to 6' 7". They weigh about three times as much as a human, although they are built on a much leaner frame, and are not overly muscular. Their shoulders are sharp and narrow, and their fingers are long and bony.

In possession of extremely strong kidneys, livers, and intestines, a Sesban is able to drink, inhale, and eat polluted things without any direct harm, as it is filtered entirely before it is absorbed. U*** has a tendency to be black or close to it, and is darker when dehydration is present. Their lungs, however, are considered the most impressive aspect of this species, as their alveoli are able to systematically reject black phlegm and tar from the air every four hours, keeping their lungs clean.

III. Reproduction

Females and males are, in society, viewed as equals. Females are differentiated physically by smoother forms, softer jaws, fuller lips, their posessed reproductive organs, longer eyelashes, wider hips, more rounded shoulders, and more gentle facial features. Men are differentiated by thicker joints, stronger jaws, their posessed reproductive organs, and sharper shoulders. Both are fully mature at the age of twenty.

The maximum amount of children that a female can have safely is one; one set of twins has been recorded as beeing delivered safely in written history. The gestation period of the female is eighteen months, twice that of a human, but the baby is born much more developed than a human baby, as well. Couples rarely have two children, and miscarraiges are fairly common. Sesabans are physically capable of mating with humans and offshoots and producing fertile young, but their traits tend to become dangerously altered, allowing the child to live not in either enviornment that the parents came from.

Common Illnesses and Diseases of the Sesaban People

The Sesabans have an extremely unique set of biological traits, making them humanoid but not near-human. Most human medicines do not work for them and therefore obtaining medicine, and the large amounts of materials to make them, is difficult. The Sesabans are equipped with a highly powerful immune system, lymph system, and filtration system--another unique trait. The Filtration System consists of the Kidneys, Liver, Lungs, Lymph Nodes, and Blood.

The Filtration System's primary purpose is to remove carbon and normally toxic waste from the body. It leaves the kidneys and liver in the form of very dark, almost black u***, and the lungs in occasional coughings of dark matter every three or four hours. Because of the high strength of these organs, they tend not to catch very many diseases, and most near-human diseases don't affect them.

However, there are a set of Sesaban-specific injuries and diseases that make themselves very common:

Fractured Bones; Legs

Because of the high density of their bones it can take up to three years for a broken bone to attempt to heal. However, broken legs are almost always fatal for the limb---usually requiring amputation.

Difficuties in Childbirth; Miscarraige; Still Births

A large percentage of severe medical problems are caused during childbirth. The pelvis is often narrow and can cause difficulty in delivering the child, with a mortality rate for both mother and child in a healthy birth is about 33%. Twinning is almost always lethal, at an 89% mortality rate. Sesaban children are prone to fractured bones more than most others and tend to be difficult to nurse; as a rule about 53% of infants are fed via syringe. Miscarraiges are extremely common and tend to occur between the third to seventh month. Still births are also fairly common and kill about 39% of mothers.

Shin Splints

Shin splints--a moderate damage to the sides of the bone of the leg, causing discomfort--are very common and aren't fatal, but cause the victim to be uncomfortable. They commonly affect adoslescents.

Fractured Elbows

Elbows are easily fractured as well and tend to become jammed into the junction of the other bones, causing a stiffening paralysis of both parts of the arm. This can be lasting; surgeries often are done to put it back into place.

These are just a few of the common medical problems and the list will be added to in the future.

Alright, let's see. For the most part this looks good. Please do note, however, that colonies always start with only their capital city, and perhaps a few nearby outposts. You can still expand outward from there, but you'll have to build this big wall that goes around the city, not start with it.

I would like to know a little bit more about the technology level. What kind of weapons do they use: cannons, muskets, breach loading rifles? Do they have some special industrialist system that differentiates them from the other industrial powers like Survaek, or is the pollution more a result of excessive factory usage and callousness?

About your founding location, there's a bit of a problem in that New Indroie already has a mine there, so you have two options. If you want to start with your city you can land somewhere else that's unoccupied. If you really want that iron, you can land there without a city, which will set you back a bit compared to everyone else, but I'll offset this by allowing you to bring more ships, equipment and supplies than I usually permit so that your people won't be immediately starved for resources.

((One suggestion, you should colonize in the East if you want a highly industrialized nation. The land is less fertile, but there is a free gold source and more metal sources that others. Also, the presence of New Survaek, an industrial leader, could encourage trade. The west on the other hand, is more fertile, but with many rual, less advanced nations.

I also noticed your question about how to improve your profile. The best thing you ca do is to identify a more cultural aspect of your people, making them seem more realistic. By this I mean etiquette and social traditions ))

((I like this nation A LOT. I'm not usually prone to favortism, but don't be surprised if I propose a lot of treaties very soon, either through Survaek or Indroie. This would work particularly well into Survaek's cultural aspect of national respect based upon level of "civilization."

However, I must agree with MW that starting with a massive barricade around several regions is overdoing it a bit. My New Survaekom capital started out with a wooden wall. In fact, I'm not sure if starting with factories and paved-stone roads is even quite fair, considering the amount of supplies that such would entail. It took me all the way until now just to get Survaek's first Bessemer converter manufactured.))

Alright, approved. Just remember that you're going to need at least one coal and one steal resource to yourself just to keep those factories running, probably more considering the crazy industrialization. Sticking it at 9,20 is going to cause a lot of chaos. I'm pretty sure the Survaekom won't appreciate getting smog down from the mountains.

Their hearing is acute, but very few are able to hone it, unless they have spent years in training to become a member of the Carbon Corps. (( be frank, "several hundred factories" is a violation of the rules no matter how you cut it. The rule to which I am referring is "FOUNDING A COLONY" #2 in the rules section,

"A colony may bring tools and equipment that would fit on the boat, but those tools are irreplaceable until more resources are acquired, and in the case of machinery and firearms, will be running low on supplies when a colony begins."

Let me stress to you the fact that New Survaek, with population about the same as yours yours, had to build up for about a month -in game time- even to create even it's very first factory. Now your people could possibly have the luxury of starting with a factory or two, but not hundreds, not even a dozen, especially when you only have a total population of 9000 to run them all.))

Carbon Regiment Candidate School


"Alright, children. On your home turf today. Well, don't let it get to your heads. Remember, the same rules for the matches apply as they always have. No scratching or biting, no harming gender specific areas; Whitemask Corps, no hitting the face hard enough to break bones...." The Sesaban's voice trailed off slightly. A smile twitched at the corners of his mouth and a few of the students exchanged knowing glances, holding back laughter, "Carbon Regiment, no beating the living daylights out of your opponent with a rifle butt and or your feet...As you know, that means hard enough to give a bad bruise or cause bleeding...Flooring an opponent is a win, getting the mask on is a win for my own fine young atrocities."

Whitemask Corps Captain Nalene Tirnett looked over at each of the groups in turn; they stood at opposite sides of the training room, where a few walls and tunnels had been set up for additional challenge. "Alright then. I believe we've already decided the matches, you have three minutes to prepare."

He headed back towards where the instructors and officers of both branches stood, talking amongst themselves. "Three bronze on Iielenal." He smiled slightly, producing three coins and setting them on the desk. One of the black clad officers--a total of three were in the country right now--raised an eyebrow and set downw three as well, watching the student prepare out of the corner of his eye.

One of the women officers got up to start the matches; Nalene watched with interest, as did all of the others.

The Confederacy of Sesaba's parliament came to the conclusion that the forests behind Seret would be cut down to create another city, and work began the day after the law was passed, as there was no wait in a unicameral legislature such as theirs. The prime minister signed and it was passed down to the various authorities. The trees, thick, heavy hardwoods, were cut down without a second thought, and huge Kiffirs were used to haul the wood to the edges of the forest past where work was being done.

Because the Confederacy's air had reached the cut area, it was safe for a group of citizens and graduated cadets to go, although Seret remained capital city. 500 were sent in all, 91 expecting children, a few with young offspring.

Kiffirs were hitched to huge weighted steel groundscrapers, and roots, remaining plants, rocks, and raised areas were torn from the earth, creating an unpaved road and the base of a city sans buildings, about a square half-mile.

The construction of Afnikasa had begun.

"Sir, we're ordering you to get down! If you do not comply you will be shot!" The second seat of the Carbon Regiment tightened his grip on the rifle, standing before the soldier as he moved to the ground, tucking his knees under and putting his arms and forehead on the floor. "You are being tried for desertion. This is a serious military crime and you must present yourself for court martial immediately. Get up."

With a gun pressed to his back, Kain Sena led the E3 through the long hall of the Enlisted Housing, wordless. Eventually they reached a heavy metal door and he stopped. "Arms out." He began to pat down the man, check, after the massacre at the academy pat downs were required for nearly all military functions. Kain took the man's pistol and tossed it to the ground with a clatter. "Cleared."

Kain opened the door with a powerful sweep of one coarsely jointed arm, striding into the room where the 13 seats of the Whitemask Corps watched. Nalene Tirnett sat in the middle of the row, taking in the surroundings before his attention returned to the man led into the room at gunpoint. Kain saluted, moving his arm out horizontally from where it rested at his chest. "Captain, sir, permission to leave."

The men returned the salute and Nalene spoke. "Permission to leave granted, Officer." Kain turned and left the room, waiting outside of the courtroom in case he was needed for security measures. He didn't try and listen through the wall, as it was close to impossible for even a Sesaban trained in such things to hear through it.

"Enlisted, you have been acused of desertion. Do you plead guilty, or not guilty?"

Silence. "Not guilty."

About half of the Whitefoot Party of the Carbon Regiment had been sent back to The Confederacy of Sesaba before they headed off towards the North, their total division being 100 in the homeland, with the twelfth through sixth seats and their second staying to lead, their Lieutenant in New Survaek, and their captain and fifth through first seats, as well as 100 men, in Whitefoot territory.
