Agreed. I pick my favorites, but sometimes, they do and well and sometimes my picks are at the bottom of the list...

In my opinion, sometimes too much emphasis is given on what a story tells rather than what a story does.

do you mean too much emphasis on your basic barebones plot and not enough on the craft of writing?

For the most part. But also what it means to build a plot versus what it means to create an effect, to leave the reader with something once the story is done.

something I really struggle with in writing is generating authentic emotions and relationships in tragic/intense situations. some stories I have read really leave you with this jolt of understanding for somebody going through something, I thought Sophie's story this month did that well.

Yes, I voted for hers. It was probably my favorite entry.

I struggle with that same thing, but part of that is my difficulty with creating authentic, rounded characters.

yeah me too, and I just can't write men as the main character! I just can't get how the hell they think!

I've done some male character's POVs. But I could never do it full-time. By switching perspectives, I can avoid those particular scenes when I wouldn't know how they would react.

Then, you have someone like Nicole, who pretty much writes men almost exclusively.

I couldn't do that.

oh yes, I have done it a bit with that switching perspective thing and it seemed okay, but when I tried it for the whole story everyone said he was a bit flat and the female roles were much more interesting.

Oh, the way she does all that penis swaggering with Kristoph! I'm impressed!

Yep.

It's got to be a talent.

lol, can't believe I'm bothering to reply to Bible studies to explain why my character is not like Hitler. I can tell this is going to be a productive day ...

I feel sort of like giving her a sympathy review. Just for taking so much flak.

11/15/2011 #2,862

lol, and I probably deserved her vitriolic review when it comes down to karma and all.

11/15/2011 #2,863
Stephanie M. Moore

Vitriolic. That's a big points word right there.

lol, I like any words that Dragon recognises easily. The more syllables, the more easily it is recognised. So yay is about one of the hardest words, and anti-disestablishmentarian would have to be one of the easiest

lol.

And that's my cue to go. Gotta work an event tonight. :/

Talk to you later!

But I'm having too much fun looking at high school pictures. Good times.

Everyone disappeared again.

And NaNo is going so slow tonight. I can't afford to fall behind any more than I am. (Still one day behind thanks to Saturday)

Sigh.

And then there are the movie trailers to fawn over.

The Hunger Games looks awesome, and I'm almost willing to give Kristen Stewart a second chance after seeing the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer.

I'm so tired. NaNo is screwing with my sleep schedule.

I need to go to bed soon.

I think I shall despair now. :/

Definitely going to have to finish this chapter on my lunch break tomorrow. I'm giving up and turning in.

Night, Globe! Hopefully some other people will show up soon to keep you entertained.

FARTY is NOT a valid word.

Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard when I read this that my dog woke up and stared at me.
