About FictionPress: Peer Help for New Users
Stuff I learned and may be useful to you. This is an unofficial forum. I have no other way to contact the admins besides the same Help link in the corner. In fact, the absence of any response from the admin is what prompted me to create this forum.

This is an example of highlighted text.

Highlighting is easy. Next to the B I U buttons above is a pull-down box labeled 'Styles'. When you pull it down, you will see the option to highlight. Highlighting is at the paragraph level, so wherever the cursor rests when you select the Highlight style, that paragraph will be Highlighted.

However, Highlighting does nasty things to 'soft-linefeeds', the linebreaks you generate with a Shift+Enter. Actually FP does nasty things to soft-linefeeds: they show up in the edit window, but not when it's finally posted. The Preview button is your friend.

Edit: It turns out highlight can be applied within a paragraph, too. If you don't select any text, then it will highlight the whole paragraph If you do, it will only highlight the selected text.
