Hello, and for those that don't know, my name is Emma and my username is CrystalPark. I am currently in the middle of righting my first project on FictionPress, which is called Shifter's Rising. I am from the beautiful state of Montana, which is part of my username. Crystal Park is a park in the state that's famous for the crystals and geodes that can be found there. I used to go there all the time when I was little. So, I used it as a username.
I'm a huge supporter of organizations like Heifer International, and I also love to look at ancient civilizations like the Maya or the Greeks. I love writing in a Medieval setting, though. However, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people mis-pronounce my name or give people information when it's not true. For example, once a teacher said that every person coming to the U.S. for religious freedom was a Puritan. I disagreed, and we spent a good twenty minutes debating it. I still don't like that teacher very much.
I am a big fan of reading. In fact, in sixth grade, I set a goal to read all of the teen library books from Z to A in the public library. At least, all the books that I deemed worth reading. I started at Z, because it was the section closest to the checkout desk. I am currently going through the books again to find those that I missed. And, at my house, I have three bookshelves in my room. Of course, two of them are small. The first one I got had more shelves, but was about a foot thick. The second one is about a foot and a third, and has two shelves. The third is about a yard wide, and has three shelves. That one is the newest, so I haven't filled it yet.
Some of my favorite books are The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, Stray by Elissa Sussman, Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo (second book of a series), Cleopatra's Moon by Vicky Alvear Shecter, Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, Chasing the Jaguar by Michele Dominguez Greene, The Expeditioners and The Secret of King Triton's Lair by S.S. Taylor (2nd book), Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock, Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, books 1-5 of the Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler, Light Land by H.L. McCutchen, The Neptune Project by Polly Holyoke, any and all Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz, and The Jaguar Stones series by Jon and Pamela Voelkel. And, honestly, I'm a thorough believer that the book is always better than the movie.
When I grow up and graduate college, I want to own a bakery and be a part-time author. That's because I love baking and writing. I want to keep up my collection of stuffed animals (don't tell anyone), and everything else I can't help but hoard.
