To be brief, I'm 22 and have been writing fiction since I was 18. I love Star Wars and the books were what got me to try writing in the first place. I started by writing a Star Wars novel and got 200 pages written before I realized it was awful and junked it. I started another one, finished it 6 months later and tried to sell it to Bantaam. I was a bit naive in those days, but I still think it's a good book. Anyway, by now I know that the big shots at Bantaam and Dell Ray aren't going to publish my work no matter how many query letters I send them. This leaves me with 2 options: start sending them letter bombs or try getting fanfic websites to post my stuff. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Some background: after reading "Vision of the Future," "Vector Prime," "Onslaught" and "Rogue Planet" I was, well, inspired. I started my own duology: "Clash of Fates," part I and II. Quick summery: Thrawn vs. the Yuuzhan Vong, a prequel to the New Jedi Order, occurs during Return of the Jedi. As of now, Part I is complete and Part II is 3/4 finished, it's shaping up to be the best thing I've ever written. My goal: to have someone, somewhere, READ my story and say "This isn't half bad." That's all. When completed, "Clash of Fates" will be my farewell to the Star Wars universe. I will never write another piece of Star Wars related fiction again. Damn it hurt to write that. Anyway, I hope my story is a fitting tribute to that galaxy far, far away, but I leave that for the readers to judge. P.S. Much of the story was thought up and written before "Ruin" and "Agents of Chaos," so some of the background might be a little inaccurate, but I did, and am doing, my best. |
