My poetry process:
I don't know that I really write poetry, it just sorta flops out. It's more like standing under a waterfall and cupping the falling water into ice trays. I can't change the water into Kool-aid or 7-UP, but I can funnel the water into a Jell-O mold, or a ceramic vase, or whatever I can think of.
I can't write about a specific subject, at least not yet. I'm working on being able to make what I want come out of me, but I'm not there yet.
I can't add onto a poem without it sounding choppy, because each time I sit down I have a different mental state, and the poem will reflect that.
What I can do, is start from a single line of poetry, and relax my twisted brain, and let my fingers do the typing. Usually something decent pops out.
