Why I check out Conspiracy Theories:
I learned early not to believe everything in the news. A late night at age six—our car was about to be hit by a drunk driver running a red light. To avoid being killed by the impact, Mom made our car roll on to the driver's side door. Mom and my brother came out fairly unhurt, but in the tumble of bodies, my head became wedged between the emergency brake & the brake pedal. I woke up at the hospital with weird wires hooked to my head. My brain felt like mush. The doctors sent me home only to call Mom in the morning. "Bring her back in, she has a skull fracture!"

Our newspaper's article about the accident? Mom broke her back, Brother broke his leg & I was fine.
