My flatmate Tom says that being a scientist means that you could spend your whole life studying a single tree in your own garden and never find out everything that there is to know about it.

A literary critic I was reading on the bus to work believes that the world is now completely catalogued and that the future is going to be an enormous struggle to overcome our boredom.

Sometimes I think the most beautiful words that the day brings can be "Congratulations, you are today's lucky winner!"

No two snowflakes are alike.

Of course all of this could just be pretentious nonsense. It's just how I was feeling today.

I don't review as much as I would like to. But I will try harder . . .
