About Me

The name's Dino. I am just about nienteen and am attending my first year of university. I am an English Lit major, with a double minor in French and German. I absolutely love foreign languages, and would like to learn Latin and Dutch as well... In the longterm, I want to get a PhD in Comparative Literature... I'll be at least twenty-eight by then. Yikes.

Today, I deleted nearly everything on here... including the original short story version of "Drought of '56." A more substantial profile is to come.

Story Status

Brocade-1885, England. Through a bizarre change of circumstances, a young scholar faces the prospects of wholly abandoning his education due to the declining health of his mother. By chance, he meets the dean's wife on the streets of London one afternoon who seems to take an instantaneous liking to him. Though he views the matter with much trepidation, to his delight, she offers to pay his mother's medical bills so that he can continue his studies in the fall. All in exchange for one "small favor" which could possibly undo them all. Novella; unfinished.

Blood Upon the Snow: The Cursed Heir- "But your mother is dead, isn't she? Dead and forgotten. And tossed into an unmarked grave, like the French peasant she was... you shall suffer her same fate if you do not watch your every step, child." Léa's childhood is destroyed when her father divorces her birth mother and sends her to a nunnery in France. Against her better judgment, Léa follows her mother there, and watches as the former Queen rots away. As Lea matures and grows to be a young woman, her stepmother, Eleanor Grey, weaves in and out of her life, as murders plague them all, and Léa's claim to the throne vanishes altogether. Unwanted, she will be traded amongst many dangerous individuals throughout her life, as her stepmother continues to seek her demise. A retelling of Snow White, with some actual history tossed in for good measure. Novel; unfinished.

Drought of '56-Summer, 1956. A small Midwestern farming community is gripped by a slew of murders throughout the worst drought in recorded history. As a cult following grows about the town minister who falsely promises salvation, one individual struggles to come to terms with his adulthood and what he perceives as a complete mockery of humanity.Summer, 1956. A small Midwestern farming community is gripped by a slew of murders throughout the worst drought in recorded history. As a cult following grows about the town minister who falsely promises salvation, one individual struggles to come to terms with his adulthood and what he perceives as a complete mockery of humanity. This originally appeared here in short story form roughly two years ago... the original short story was less than 6,000 words, and the first draft of the novel version is around 70,000. This was my first NaNoWriMo attempt and I can't believe I wrote 65,000+ words in one month! The second draft will be published online. Novel; finished.

Two Queens: Jane and Katherine-The third and sixth wives of Henry VIII, Jane Seymour and Katherine Parr are vastly different women who nonetheless share many similarities. Both come to the throne following the beheading of their predecessor, both come from an ambitious and extremely powerful family, and work to change the face of English fate forever. Both are determined and intelligent, and both will ultimately die alone and forgotten in childbirth. This story shifts in the point of views of the two queens during similar time periods of their lives. Novel; on hiatus.
