Updates:

Hey. It's April 21, 2008. Yes, I am well aware that I have not updated for. . . 2 years? My computer crashed. I lost everything I'd ever written because I was silly and didn't back anything up. Thanks to FP, though, I still have the frameworks of several things. Awesome. Now, to remember where exactly I was going with everything. Easy as pie. I am still writing, though. Trying to, anyway.

Review mine, and I will return the favor!

Story Information:

"The Broken Pieces": What I am currently focusing on. Chapters alternate between flashbacks and present-day.

Daria Bydelbee is a 17 year-old witch, living in New Hampshire. Her frivolous and self-centered mortal mother, Shayla, who possesses limited powers due to her failed marriage to Daria's father, the long-gone leader of the magical underworld, her naive 16 year-old brother, Darin, and a loyal Intuitive, Rosie, run the Bydelbee Inn. A slew of mysterious threats, a dangerous liaison between Daria and a human boy, and a family secret mark the irrepressible beginning of a search for the truth about he inner-workings of the Guild's business and a tragedy marking Daria's unfortunate past.

"On My Shoulders": Just updated! Based on my life, it contains some delicate subjects; please do not read it if it will offend you.

It begins with Marissa's changing relationship with her boyfriend, Trey. Marissa deals with bulimia, insecurities, rape and self-doubt.

"Love Drug": Based on a dream I had. . . I will try to update it soon.

In the future, a group of teenagers fall victim to a government conspiracy.

"Protectors": Complete!

A different take on vampires- two vampiric factions, one dedicated to the preservation of humanity and the other seeking their destruction, battle it out, and a young, vampiric princess, Shane is caught in the middle. Spotted with vampire hunters, romance, traitors, politics and humor.

"Glasses": A short story, one-shot. Based on my Great-Aunt's funeral/viewing. My feelings about death.

"Amnesia": Sequel to "Protectors." Another story that I am currently working on.

A girl called Paris is the key to winning a supernatural war, and one side will do anything to get her. After losing her memory, she is taken in by a group of supernatural activists- werewolves, witches, shapeshifters and more unseemly characters, The Next. As she starts to recall pieces of her past, Derrick, of "Protectors" finds himself caught up in another plot against the vampire royalty and humanity.

Quotes

Artist: Dahsboard Confessional
Song: Carve Your Heart out Yourself

Carve your heart out yourself
Hopelessness is your cell
Since you've drawn out these lines
Are you protected from trying times?

Man, it takes a silly girl
To lie about the dreams she has
But lord, it takes a lonely one
To wish that she had never dreamt them at all

Oh look now, there you go with hope again
Oh you're so sure that I'll be leaving in the end

Dig your ditch deep enough
To keep you clear of the sun
You've been burned more than once
You don't think much of trust

Oh look now, there you go with hope again
But I'll be sure your secret's safe with me
Oh you're so sure that I'll be leaving in the end
You're treating me like I'm already gone
But I'm not, I will stay where you are, always

One of my favorite excerpts from Valiant (by Holly Black):

He spread his hands as though trying to express something inexpressible. "We both know that I am a monster."
"You're not-"
"It demeans you to cover rotten meat with honey. I know what I am. What would you want with a monster?"
"Everything," Val said solemnly. "I'm sorry I kissed you- it was selfish and it upset you- but you can't ask me to pretend I didn't want to."
He regarded her warily as she took a step closer to him. "I'm not very good at explaining things," She said. "But I think you have beautiful eyes. I love the gold in them. I love that they're different from my eyes- I see mine all the time and I'm bored with them."
He snorted with amusement but stayed still.
She reached up and touched the pale green of his cheek. "I like all the things that make you monstrous."

Pages 232-233 of Valiant

-"One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight. Back to back they faced each other, pulled out their swords and shot one another. The deaf cop on the beat heard the noise and came and shot the two dead boys." -Holly Black, Valiant

- "Nothing can stop you from being terrible once you've learned how." Holly Black, Valiant

- "Nobody's ever asked me to a party before, as a friend! Is that why you dyed your eyebrow, for the party? Should I do mine, too?" -Luna Lovegood, page 311 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, J.K. Rowling

-"My friend was walking down the street and he said, "I hear music." As if there is any other way of taking it in. I tried to taste it, but it did not work." - Mitch Hedburg

- "I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it. " - Mitch Hedburg
