Well... it has been quite a long time. I believe I created this FictionPress account more than five ago, and since then I have only posted a handful of my works here. Truth be told, I maintain a mild paranoia about revealing my 'pet novel-in-progress' to the rest of the world. I do, however, maintain a small blog to archive my work. I'm not quite sure what led me back here (it may be an impulse that will fade quickly) but I've decided to post most of the poems I wrote, for people to read and perhaps draw some comfort or inspiration from them.

I may eventually decide to post up some of the short stories I've written, since I'll be withholding my pet project.

A lot of time has passed since I last touched this account, and I find myself a very changed person. More introspective, yet less averse to interaction than I used to be. It's quite strange to see my profile description from four or five years ago and to recall that eager, albeit nervous, person who penned it. I have mellowed out somewhat since then (as I am sure you can tell by the 'tone' I'm now used to), but I would not like anyone to think that the young fire that sketched wildly improbable worlds is diminished with the years.

I promise no frequent updates - that is against my nature, because I am somehow mostly content to let my imaginations roam free in my mind - but I do promise that anything I post here will be honestly, truthfully, completely me. I express myself best through writing, and in the reading of what few works I put here, I am sure you will be able to catch a glimpse of the mind behind them if you want to.

So thank you, dear reader, for having the patience to put up with my admittedly mildly narcissistic profile, and for taking the time to peruse my writings. I hope you find them suitably diverting.

Yours truly,
Brian

(For the sake of posterity, I am leaving my old profile description here.)

Hello there, to all you biography-viewers! Poking around to get to know me, eh? Well, alright...

I'm a simple 16-year old kid from Singapore (that's in South-East Asia for all of you people with maps in your hands now), and I find writing as a pleasant past-time.

If you're wondering if I do anything else besides write, yes, now that you mention it, I do! I roleplay, usually on Battle.Net, or in MSN Messanger with a few friends. I used to post frequently on a play-by-post website known as Vagrant Space, but unfortunately the site has closed down. I have, however, banded together with a few roleplayers to get a small community going! We call it RP Collision, and the URL is my homepage.

Besides Roleplaying and writing, what else do you think I do?

Yep, read! What genre? Anything good! What did you say? Favourites? Certainly! Artemis Fowl, LotR, Harry Potter and all of Katharine Kerr's books, to name a few. I've also taken a liking to Jonathan Stroud's work.

Well, I'll end this little 'biography' here. Should you want to find out more about this poor, lost, deranged child, you can contact me by e-mail, or you can pop me on your MSN Messanger list. (I'd rather you e-mail me first. I don't like having all those requests of people I don't know. Makes me think someone's stalking me. =P)

Flaking Ink
Long ago, I was a part of a group of friends who were very involved in text-based roleplaying games. On top of that, I also used to nurse ambitions of writing my own fantasy book. When I stumbled across old pieces of my past writings, I got the impetus to put pen to paper for this simple poem.

Potential
I love that feeling of wanting to write, even though I haven't always had the opportunity to bring my worlds to life. The feeling is strongest after I finish a good book - then it feels like I have enough in me to fill an empty library. I penned this after finishing "House of Suns" by Alastair Reynolds.
