Name: Crystal Linn
Trend: For the most part, I tend to write one-shots. In fact, the majority of my stories are one-shots. I don't have any specific genre that I stay in, I jump from fantasy to historical without any hesitation, although nearly any story of mine has some sort of romantic element to it. I will admit (especially in my older works) that I had a real problem with making characters Mary-Sues in my chapter stories and a few of my one-shots (or two, three-part stories). However, I've been able to amend that recently for the most part and am still consciously working on eliminating those types of characters in my stories.
Please, if you enjoy reading my stories, send me some feedback. I don't mind if it's not in a review, even a PM would be nice :)
I always want to know what I'm doing right/wrong, especially for my original fiction. Every serious writer wants to publish one day and that is especially true for me, so any feedback to help me improve or adjust is incredibly helpful.
Making it possible - there are a lot of problems that I found with this story when I read it through, so it's going to get edited. My biggest issue with it is how small the world is. When I wrote it - and when I'm reading it over - the world is confined to the beach where Luna's manor is, the island of the Fire Demons, the town, and even the forest seem small. Also, it moved too fast. There is room to expand on the scenes and make it into a much better novel.
A Secret of Wonder - as a reviewer mentioned, Emily practically throws herself into Keene's problems. Now, her character is meant to be a bit nosy, but I'm finding it troublesome and am unsure of how to resolve that problem without completely rewriting the story, so I ended up pausing in that until I can figure out a solution for it. If anyone has any ideas, please send them my way!
Children of the Wood - this is my current, ACTIVE work-in-progress. I have a lot planned for it. The world is going to be rather expansive and, in my usual style, there will be a central plot with several subplots that will connect to it. This story is going to be a bit of an experiment for me for world and character development, two of the things I've struggled with the most with fantasy fiction.
(3/25/2014) I'm back in the fantasy genre, oh my! And the amount of one shots I churn out is getting ridiculous, I really need to write chapter stories.
