Immortal Essence (aka Mercy Roulette) is an eclectic person with varied musical and literary tastes. She has been writing fiction solidly for over twelve years, mostly in the horror, action/adventure, fantasy and romance categories. She has a fascination with the supernatural and the gothic. She has also written and composed well over 450 songs. She is an accomplished musician, having auditioned for American Idol twice, and having appeared in local-based singing competitions such as North Shore Star and Community Auditions. She provides the lead vocals for three local bands: Torc, Mistress On Fire and Evince Ethos.

Among her many hobbies is costuming and she can be seen wearing her creations at various conventions around the U.S. During the Halloween season, she is a haunter at local haunts.

Her literary influences are Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, J.R.R. Tolkien and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Her favorite music is goth/metal/industrial/experimental which includes bands such as Evanescence, Within Temptation, Nightwish, A Perfect Circle, Lacuna Coil, God Module, Spineshank, Skillet, Linkin Park, Staind, etc. and ethereal/easy listening which includes Enya, Enigma, Delerium, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and more.

She recently graduated from Gordon College with her BA in English Language and Literature, concentration in Creative Writing.
