The Minstrel Boy, to the war has gone “Land of Song!” said the warrior bard The Minstrel fell, but the foe man’s chains And said, “No chains shall sully thee!” ~The Minstrel Boy: Black Hawk Down I am a thinker. I express my mind on things that matter and I do it proudly yet softly. I'm not a shouter. I'm a whisperer, a singer and I keep alive the stories I know. I write what appeals to my thoughts and my emotions, for I cannot deny that I am emotional. I will try anything to open up my mind so long as it causes no harm. I put wax and cotton in my ears to experience deafness. I bound my feet to a wheelchair for a day to experience, at least to the best extent, being wheelchair-bound. I do not have to blindfold myself. I am already blind. I was born with under-developed optic nerves. There's no cure, but if there were, I would not accept it. I am curious however, to knwo what it is like for a day, to have "normal" vision. However, I am afraid. I am afraid of losing the vision I already have. I am afraid of becoming blind to the diversity of the world. I am afraid of prejudice. My writings reflect my beliefs, my thoughts and what I see. I see as Erik, the Phantom. I see as Frankenstein's Creation. I see as Adrea Bocelli. I see as the Blind Surgeon. I see as Myself. I write instead of crying. I write to honour the stories I've lived and the stories I've been told. I write to honour those I hold dear. I write to make Erik, the Musketeers, and Frankenstein's Creation proud. I write to make the fallen warriors of times past and present proud, to assure them that their passing is not in vain. I write to let nothing be forgotten, for someone dear to me taught me a valuable lesson: "When you Create, Create with Passion!" This is my Passion. ~~"The candle that burns the brightest is, most often, the shortest lived." - For Pendrell Vodalia II... Rest in Peace, my T'hy'la |
