I'm currently looking for someone to beta High Maintenance II for me. I need someone who's fluent in English and who can help me with commas, direct speech punctuation, and language in general. The first draft is done, so I don't need help with the plot (though advise will be taken into account, of course). It's mostly language-wise I need a beta. Send me a PM if you're interested (you'll get to read it before anyone else ;) ).
It's been a very long time since I posted anything to this site. My first two stories were written when I was a teenager, and that was a very long time ago. I'd like to think that my writing has improved since then. I've been posting some stuff over at Fanfiction.net, but now I'm back at Fictionpress (I haven't left Fanfiction.net completely).
I did post another couple of stories years ago, but I deleted them again as I never got around to finishing them. That has been my problem for years, but I finally found a way to break through that 'wall' of not being able to finish more than 2/3 of a story. Nowadays I don't post anything, until the story is complete, though.
English is not my native language, and I make lots of errors. If you find any really awkward ones, please let me know, and I'll do my best to correct them (don't bother, if it's in my first two stories - they're more than ten years old). The same goes if you see the same error over and over again.
My inspiration is music and nature. Those two things really spark my creativity. If I'm stuck in a chapter, I'll just put on my headphones and go for a long walk with my dog in the woods, listening to music. Most of the time rock music, but I like a little bit of everything. When I get back, I won't be stuck anymore. And I don't even remember the last time I was stuck. The words sort of just flow without me struggling at all these days. I love that.
So far, most of my novels and one shots have been in the romance genre. I read almost every genre, but I prefer to write romance. I am leaning more and more towards some heavier stuff, though, but there's almost always a romance in my stories, no matter the other genres.
I have a dog, a horse, and a small cottage in the country. I'm an introvert, and I like my solitude. Not all the time, but most of it. I do thrive in my own company, and writing recharges me more than anything else. If I don't get my daily dose of writing (or at least plotting or editing), I become stressed out and cranky.
Anything else you'd like to know, just ask! I love private messages. ;)
This series is my first big project in a very long time and the one I've worked with the most. It's also the one I've learnt the most from writing.
HM I (Theo's story) is already complete and revised and only needs the last round of edits/proofreading right before I post. I have learnt a lot from writing this, and there are things I would've done very differently, if I were to write it now. However, I'm not changing it anymore now. I'll just take everything I've learnt with me to future stories.
HM II (Jack's story) is complete, too, and I just finished the first chronological edit. I love this one, and when I wrote HM I, I actually never intended to write a sequel until Jack came alive, and I felt like I had to write his story. He's my little baby, and if you hurt him, I will hunt you down and make you suffer! ;)
HM III (Angelo's story) is plotted and outlined, and I just began writing it (March 18th). I'll leave HM II while I write this one and come back to look at it with fresh eyes later. I'm hoping to finish or almost finish HM III during CampNaNoWriMo in April. It should be no later than May, if everything goes according to plan.
HM IV (Mick's story) is very loosely plotted, though I get a better idea of him and his story with every day that passes. I do have the premise and the main plot, but I don't have that many scenes outlined yet. I'm counting on finishing the first draft no later than in the autumn, but we'll see.
I'm very serious about this series, though I know they may look like fanfics to some people. They're not. They never were, and the characters were never based on real people. In my mind, though, they're as real as anyone else. I hope I succeed in passing that feeling somewhat on to the readers.
All High Maintenance songs are my own. I may or may not upload them someday. For now, though, they're just for my own reference when writing - just like the characters' back stories are.
YOU GOT VALENTINED: One-shot written for a Valentine's themed fanfic competition in February 2018. It will be the last time ever I write fanfiction about real people, 'cause it just feels so wrong. Whenever I try, I feel like I'm intruding on people's privacy. Wesley isn't the real name of the person who inspired it.
BLUE, BLUE EYES: Romance one-shot written in April 2018 because someone took my breath away and I had to do something about it. The only thing inspired by that person, though, is the colour of the hair and eyes. ;) Not exactly my best fic, but it had to be written.
ADAM: Short YA romance novel written when I was a teenager, I think. It's in my native language, and though I've learned a lot about writing since then, I still sort of like it. It makes me smile, when I reread it every five years or so. ;)
MISTLETOE AND WINE: Originally a fanfiction about a real person. I wrote it years ago, back when editing was not something I thought necessary. ;) I did write MAW II and MAW III as well, but they were too hard (and too bad - I reread them a few months ago - yikes) to edit into original fiction. I kept the story on Fictionpress because it had some really sweet reviews.
