And like most budding novelists I found myself working through a whole slew of...well...everything! I wrote the short stories before progressing into poems that could have easily been plagiarized from a 99 cent Hallmark card. From those I went into plays that always seemed to feature all of my friends and were so packed full of inside jokes that very few could truly grasp the meanings in them. After that I went back into short stories. These I (affectionately) called "chapter books." As each chapter barely lasted a page I would have been better to refer to them as "page" books. After that was my Shakespeare phase. Dark and depressing sonnet after sonnet flew from my pen. Of course I never managed to conquer that terrible thing known as Iambic pentameter so they were more like allusionary sonnets. (Creating the word "allusionary" is my tribute to Shakespeare's tendency to create his words). Now came my clearly over-thought college era. Tribute poems and screenplays. Lots of screenplays. And short stories. Short stories that actually made sense. Short stories that did not contain chapters as I finally understood that they simply were not needed. As a Telecommunications minor, I received college credit for writing. How awesome is that? My senior year saw me writing my first marketable screenplay. (Due to all sorts of legal nonsense such as rights and three year options and who knows what, it will never make itself known on Fictionpress). Once out of college I finally come to conclusion that I am ready to begin the novel undertaking of writing a novel. (see what I did there? *snicker*)
With a full-time job and my novel-to-be, I do not have much time but I am always willing to help out other people. If you would like a review or simply need words of encouragement, send me a pm. It may take me a little bit but I will get back to everyone. |
