Still re-working "Bright." The pace is slow, as I will write one sentence then edit it countless times until I like it and move on. A couple of new poems and the rare short story just uploaded or on the way. I actually write a lot more than it would seem, but most of it doesn't make it to the site or enters the editing gauntlet and stays there for several weeks. Or I write it on a napkin, put it in my pocket, and wash it in the laundry, as was the case with my last two poems.
I've been using the time I used to devote to writing "Bright" to writing lyrics or reading. Lots of reading going on, which is a good thing. Reading other peoples' work, especially the classics, gives me a new perspective on my own writing, and keeps me humble. Most recently, I've gotten into Jack Kerouac and John Milton, two totally different writers from different time periods.
As far as music goes, I've gotta put some reccommendations up:
Umbrellas, ANS, Burnside Fountains, The Allens, The Cliks, Fugazi, Minor Threat, Tegan and Sara, Joy Division, Sonic Youth.
I'm seventeen years old and female. I've lived in West Texas for ten years. I'm an active musician and theater performer in the area. I'm also the guitarist and vocalist in local punk band, The Poisons, as well as a co-producer of an indie project called Manchester Saints. To keep my writing in context for those who aren't aware, I am an out lesbian and have been for a couple of years. I co-run a DIY, do-it-all company called Banshee, and work in music production, graphic design, photography, and editing. We're not quite off the ground yet and we're still in the development phase. I'm also not as serious as I probably make myself sound. Really. I'm actually kinda funny.
