BookEnds Literary Agency Blog - Similar to Kristin Nelson. It's just a good idea to keep updated on the industry.

RWA - Romance Writers of America. Yes, it costs money to be a member. Yes, you have to pay to enter their contests. No, you can't enter all contests if you're not an RWA member, but some are open to non-RWA members and the cost tends to be 5-10 dollars more. But if you're really, really serious and you think you're ready to make the next step past fictionpress, start checking them out. Also, if you want to self-critique or be a better reviewer, check out the contest sample scoresheets, and use one of those to judge any writing you read.

Miss Snark - Read her. Live her. Love her. Read all about the ins, outs, and backwards of getting your work in front of an agent, and then to an editor, and then in a bookstore. Need help with a query letter? She's the queen of samples. Also: QueryShark.
