I'm 18 and live on the east coast of the United Stated (unfortunately not so far east that I can go to the beach on weekends) and have lived here for about 4 years. I will be heading off to college next fall to study studio art and creative writing (I can illustrate my own stories!).
A lot of factors have influence my creativity over the years, and I say creativity because I didn't start writing until I was 14 maybe. First of all, my first grade teacher, being the awesome lady that she is, had lots and lots of books and fun creative little stations in her classrooms. And there were many elementary teachers that encouraged reading. It kind of went down hill in midle school but my English teacher in 6th grade really introduced me to the fantasy genre and I took off from there. I was later accused of reading too much by another teacher.
Moving and entering high school was the starting point for both my drawing and writing. I had a lot of pent up emotion that needed an escape. I role played a lot and I opened various email accounts just so I could use the messengers just so I could find people that I could plot and role play with any time that I wanted. That improved my spelling and grammar and all of that nifty stuff. Meanwhile I was constantly doodling what I saw in my head. Various situations that had happened while I was writing, or my writing was inspired by drawings.
I really got into the sci-fi genre before I entered high school (because that was when I started role playing) and I met a friend of mine and we developed a really interesting story between the two of us. She has written a rather long and interesting story about the characters we had created. She has an account on deviant art under the name of upmosthilarity. When I got into my sophomore year of high school, another friend handed me this book and told me with so much passion how wonderful it was. I now highly recommend the book Enders Game and all the books that follow it to everyone that has never been interested in science fiction. It is the one book that will get you hooked on the genre for life.
So it's senior year now, here I am, still role playing and gettign more into writing short stories and beginning novels and fan fictions. My art is doing good as well (you can look up innocentwaffle on deviant art if you are interested) and my writing style has changed and improved. While I will always be making revisions to stories I have written, my love for creativity will never die.
Super Nova (Chapters Completed: 6) It's a work in progress that should be finished before I graduate this year, which would be June 11th. I wont be putting it up until I can get all of the chapters reviewed by my beta for this story.
Shards of Amber (Complete) This is a short story I wrote in my sophomore year. As of right now, it is what it is. I have no plans of rewriting this in the near future. Its here mainly as a remind of how much I have improved from when I first started writing.
