A Shakespearean Sonnet about an inner struggle that you claim you never saw. Somewhat open to interpretation. Pardon the lack of iambic pentameter, stresses always get me. "Your breath draws closer to terror as your/ Lips form regret"

Short. Time can never be objective. A tribute to how impossible it is to compare your fateful peers to anyone else, despite-- and because of-- your experience.

Very short. Breath escapes me as I grasp for words, with you in my gaze. These are all I've left.

Short. Romeo's farewell. "weep, my love, July;/ Augustus close your gentle eyes/ and listen to the whispers of the wind./ Augustus open up your heart/ to the echo sound within."

Short. Tight. ABAB rhyme. You were my happy ever after, until you broke my heart.

2 in 1. The first is short. A classic, almost Shakespearean take on lust. Open to interpretation. The second is an extended look into the fear of falling in love, and what happens after you've lost it. "a dream that reads true/ until you awaken."

Short. Poetic. Very powerful, rated as such. "A soft and shaken body is cradled on the stoic slate stage, wracked with vivid memories, haunted by eternal demons."

Short. Poetic. As the last drops of humanity are shed from my soul, I realize this may be the last piece I ever write.

Tight rhythm, strategic rhyme. Short and sweet. I absolutely love the way this came out! I can't bear to spoil it for you by adding a snippet in the summary, so you'll have to read it.

Unedited, incomplete, but somehow it still came out pretty decent. Several stanzas from one who tries to live her life after her world has fallen apart.

Short. I guess experiencing passion and embracing its expression qualifies me as a Creator of sorts? "As I open my mind,/ the dust of inspiration/ settles upon/ the ghosts of hidden souls."

Short. Rated for topic, I guess. A more-or-less wholesome expression of appreciation for the way you make me feel. "I was meant to be driven outside my mind with desire/ seemingly unquenchable"

Pattern similar to 'Closer to Fine' by the Indigo Girls. Country style dialect. As if you needed another song to tell you that breaking up is hard. "i'm past livin' as an empty shell/ just goin' through the motions/ but never movin' forward."

I... am not sure where this came from. Also an old piece. I guess at some point you get so good at falling in love that you can pretend anyone is your inspiration. And at some point you realize that's not what you want.

Stream-of-consciousness poem. Not fantastic to be honest, but I like some of the lines. Break-ups can be hard... "and in 6 months it seems that nothing's really changed"

Loose rhythm, no rhyme. Rated for topic, I guess. Lose yourself in her eyes and forget that word: 'adultery.' "thoughts of desire, passion, and even doubt/ flow through my shivering veins./ my very soul quivers in anticipation,/ as I drink your beauty"

Tight rhythm. ABAB Rhyme. Slight satire of and similar pattern to "I'll Cover You" from RENT. After a break up, strength comes from within. "You make me weak/ when I could be strong./ You are temptation;/ I know this is wrong."

Rough compared to my usual work. Social commentary on life. Maybe a bit on my own at the time it was written. Open to interpretation. "Shadows lengthen, hoping to catch/ the last glimpse of fading sun./ Dawn is but a dream away/ and dusk is soon upon us."

Mild language. Distance can be tough on love of all sorts. Situation is open to interpretation. "you say there's nothing to be done/ this battle can't be won/ i'm bruised and i'm scarred/ been fighting it d*mn hard"

Short. Stream-of-consciousness. What's on my mind as I try to make peace with my ex? For the record, this piece is several years old.

Short. Poetic. Focus on imagery. "Your eyes, they slowly fall shut and your lips begin tracing the feel of the words. Your tongue taps on the tips of your teeth, capturing the incantation as your mouth conforms to its shape."
