Oh hey there. I'm Enkay, and I write stories.

I have a BA in Creative Writing (useful!) so I actually have a 34-page personal essay floating around on my harddrive about my work and my craft and all those bullshit words that writery types use to describe their stuff, but... really I just like writing stories. I'm more into fanfiction right now than original fiction, to be honest (and forcing myself to write original fiction to finish up my major didn't help too much with that in the long run), but hey. Maybe that'll change someday.

Location: Chicago, IL (although I'm stuck out in the fucking boonies of western central Illinois right now to finish up my last year of college)

Age: 22

Occupation: Liberal arts student who moonlights as resident vegetarian meat-griller in the school cafeteria. But in about seven months I'll be starting my library science degree in order to become a professional sexy librarian. I'm so excited, you guys. You have no idea.

Interests: Adult Swim cartoons (specifically Metalocalypse, Moral Orel, THE VENTURE BROS.), 2D-animation, cracked-out fiction, cracked-out young adult fiction, indie rock/electro music, Domo-kun, the Victorian period (although I have yet to become a steampunk fag), my cat, the Internet, drunk sledding, drunk Twister, British people, organizing my iTunes library, drinking coffee at Denny's at 3 in the morning, Fullmetal Alchemist (the original show that makes me cry and roll around on the floor wailing "EDWARDDD," not the manga or this Brotherhood crap), anything with robots on it, coffee, bears, Adventure Time, Slenderman, strip never-have-I-ever, bagels, boots with leggings, how weird Japanese people are, horror movies, Batman, Super Mario.

Other Aliases: ohmylawditssara on , shuffmcpuff on 8tracks, underthenoise on LJ

Music and I are pretty into each other. In fact, you might say we're in love. If you love any of the bands below as much as I do (or any of the miscellaneous things above!), feel free to PM me and we'll have a conversation. I am not as much of a piece of shit as I pretend to be, I swear.

Artists I Heart: Arcade Fire (who the hell are they I don't know), The Beatles, Beirut, Blind Melon, Bon Iver, Buddy Holly, California Wives (on behalf of the city of Chicago I insist that everyone go out and download their EP now), Cat Stevens, The Choir Practice, Cold War Kids, The Cure, David Bowie, The Decemberists, The Doors, Dresden Dolls, Emilie Autumn, Eve 6, Fanfarlo, Fang Island, The Flaming Lips, Florence + the Machine, Gin Blossoms, The Go! Team, God Is An Astronaut, Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz, Guster, Hot Chip, Iron & Wine, Jónsi & Alex, José González, Kate Bush, The Killers, Kimya Dawson, Lady Gaga, Laura Stevenson & The Cans, M.I.A., The Magnetic Fields, MGMT, Mika, The Mountain Goats, Mumford & Sons, Muse, The National, Passion Pit, Patrick Wolf, Penguin Prison, Pixies, Placebo, The Postal Service, Radiohead, The Shins, Sigur Rós, Simon & Garfunkel, Sleigh Bells, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, Sufjan Stevens, Tegan and Sara, The Temper Trap, Tori Amos (pre-Scarlet's Walk), TV On The Radio, U2 (pre-How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb), Vienna Teng, The Who, Wolf Gang (mostly "Lions In Cages" oh my gawwwd there are hipster furries in the video), Wolf Parade
Japanese Artists I Heart:
Akeboshi, Arai Akino, ART-SCHOOL, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, avengers in sci-fi, base ball bear, BONNIE PINK, Furukawa Miki, Hirasawa Susumu, Kajiura Yuki, Kanno Yoko, KOKIA, MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS, Nichika, NICO Touches the Walls, THE NOVEMBERS, OLIVIA, the pillows, Plastic Tree, Rie fu, Sakamoto Maaya, Sakamoto Miu, Salyu, school food punishment, Shiina Ringo, STRAIGHTENER, Supercar, the telephones, Tommy heavenly6, Utada Hikaru

Current Projects: There's a pretty fuuucked up story called "Autoclave" that I have yet to finish, but who knows when that will be. I'm pretty preoccupied with my fanfic right now anyway (derp derp derp).

I seem to have this fixation on writing stories that take place entirely in bathrooms. And this one's about familial solidarity in the face of hardship, so that's... okay, I guess. ... It's a cute story.

This one's a short, abstract piece drenched in metaphor. I like those. It makes allusions to Rapunzel and contains somewhat of a feminist outlook (which is funny, considering I couldn't care less).
