December the 22nd, 2015: My, my, how the years fly by. A lot has happened since my time in college—being diagnosed with crippling mental illness among other things. For about a year I was actively writing in a Facebook group with some of my good friends from college but my illness has since made writing untenable. It is endlessly frustrating to see my world slowly shrink as the number of viable creative outlets at my disposal slowly whittles away. It is my hope to begin writing again within the coming weeks, whether on this site or on FanFiction.net, but that remains to be seen. In the meantime, I'll sift through my old works and look for things to upload. "Across the Mirror, His Better Half" in particular has great personal meaning for me and is as much truth as it is fiction. Well then, here's hoping for some productive days to come.
February the 20th, 2011: I often surprise myself by how infrequently I update this page. Actually, wouldn't that mean I only surprise myself every month or so? Well, in any case, I have been enjoying my creative writing class so far, though I don't feel like a lot of the things I'm writing are good enough to be shared. I believe we will be starting on short stories in a few weeks - I can't wait! In the meantime, I'll rummage through some of my random scribbles and see if there is anything else worth posting.
January the 15th, 2011: Wow... has it really been over a year since I've updated my profile? Has it been that long since I've last written anything? I attended a writing workshop over the summer to learn more about the process of novel writing and also about the form of the "long short story." I found them both to be very enlightening. But that was months ago now; I hit a few snags in trying to write a long short story and, rather than persevere and overcome my wall, I stopped writing. Oh, for shame! But this semester I will be taking a creative writing class at my college, so I will be forced to actively write for the next three months. I hope to develop the discipline required to write constantly without external influences pushing me to do so.
The first half of my semester will be spent writing poetry. I'm terrified. Ever since I was young I always felt very awkward reading poetry, often to the point of frustration and even self-induced anxiety attacks as I force myself to slog through each stanza. Robert Frost in particular made me very angry, for reasons I cannot fathom. I do hope I can get over this bizarre condition and survive until the short story portion of the course. Somehow, though, I think I will be alright - I stayed up till 2:00 AM last night feverishly scribbling the 84-line semi-epic rough draft for my first real poem ever. The fruits of my labor can be seen in 'Fraid of My Shadow. Maybe you'll give it a read?
November the 21st, 2009: Alright, time for some action! After years of struggling I have broken through my ingrained writer's block. In less than a month I have written 10,000 words towards the novel I've been wanting to write since I was like 12 (I just turned 20 on the 17th, by the way). While that might seem slow, please keep in mind that it used to take me that long to write one twentieth that amount (See July's update below). So please check out Whimsy and let me know what you think. I'll try to update every week with a new chapter. Please, please, please give me some feedback. The more you tell me what you liked or didn't like, the better I can make my story. Thanks!
