I'm Vena. I'm a (recently) married, twenty-something, very old-souled editor, academic, and occasional writer of fiction, both the fan and original varieties. My primary online haunt is a little corner of the Internet located here. However, I have recently been persuaded to join the world of the living on Tumblr - a page which, you will notice, looks almost exactly like my Ello, right down to its sparseness. I'm bad at social media, but I'll get it running. Hopefully.
I also beta. If you'd like me to have a look over your work, see my beta profile for specs on what I take, but definitely don't be afraid to drop me a line. I actually really enjoy betaing - it's like work, but more fun.
I wrote my first novel when I was twelve. Since then, I've written several others as well as a play, very few of which I wish to be associated with anymore. My greatest inspirations are, in order, Jorge Luis Borges, Milan Kundera, Michael Ondaatje, Audrey Niffenegger, Ian McEwan; I also majored in Spanish Literature, the traditions of which left a substantial mark on my work.
Until 2010, I wrote YA fiction, short stories, and also fanfiction prolifically. University absolutely decimated my fictionwriting and I'm only just beginning to recover the craft. Because of that, I'm not sure what all I'll be posting here, but I have a few ideas I'm tossing around and a myriad of things I'm both writing and revising, slowly. Nothing gets posted until the first draft is complete.

I posted a story. Huzzah. Prosetry, of sorts, vignettish, photographic. I wrote it quickly and it's very raw. I've barely edited it except for typos. All of that is stylistic; it's supposed to be raw. Just go with it.
Look for more short stories in the near future.
From 2007-2010, I had a supernatural YA story posted here called Wynndfire. That story has been taken down because I can barely stand to look at it, but I figured it was worth mentioning that this profile hasn't always been as derelict as it is now. :)
