Something about me?
...I'm a genius.
No, seriously--my IQ was about 140 last time they checked, and I tested at the college level when I was seven.
Technically that makes anything I do a "work of genius"--but I try to make it good anyway. XD
Honestly, I don't take the whole genius thing too seriously. It's just an accident of birth, like being poor. Did I mention that I'm poor too?
To put it simply, I'm a burned-out humanist--which basically makes me an amoral bastard with a heart of gold. There's a lot of tarnish on that gold though, and I do my best to add an extra layer of sin and vice every time I get the chance. My favorite pastime is twisting conventions, so most of my stories tend to be pretty warped. I have a fondness for the "villain-as-a-hero" bit, rather than using some lame antihero who can't embrace his dark side, and if you see anything even vaguely resembling a classical literary archetype in my stories hold on to something--because I'm probably about to stand it on it's head.
I tend to use language in a more abstract manner--ignoring the conventions of grammar and writing technique because frankly, English as a language sucks. Rather than be hampered by this limited form of communication, I gleefully misuse it in a way I feel better conveys my message. Unfortunately, if you're used to interpreting written English "by the book", you may not understand what the hell I'm trying to say.
Some people could argue that means I'm not doing it right--my response is simply that I'm not trying to do what everyone else is doing. What I call writing is something similar, but definitely distinct from the mainstream definition of the term.
Ultimately, my writing is more like a poem or a good joke: It's your subconscious mind that's supposed to "get it"--and if you try too hard to analyze it, you'll miss the point entirely.
