Hi! Brokenspar here!
Brokenspar is derived from the nautical term spar (Did I mention I was obsessed with the Golden Age of Sail?) - a spar being a wooden or metal pole, such as a boom, yard, or bowsprit, that supports a sail or rigging. I realize that makes little to sense without a diagram of sorts, but bear with me.
I'm female on the older side of teen - not that old, mind you, but not much longer in high school.
As for favored writing subjects, I'm into period fiction, whether written during that period, or after (The former, Jane Austen; the latter, C.S. Forester). Most of what I publish is going to be set between 1750 and 1900, but no promises! I might actually get inspired to write something a little less musty, as one of my inestimable friends and critics has labelled my writing. If my friends happen to drop by, I swear I'm trying not to base characters off either you or myself. Honestly.
Notes - as of 7/4, I am taking down most ofThe Stern Chase because 1. It needs serious work, I have no idea where I'm going with it and 2. It's out of sequence. If the stars align correctly, it will be part of a larger series chronicling the life of the main character, Beatrix Blackthorne, starting with Midshipman Harding's Honor in 1793. At best, there are two major events that take place between MH'sH and the events of TSC. I hope this hiatus will not last long ...
Similarly, I'm going to concentrate on the aforementioned Midshipman Harding's Honor, and Forget-Me-Nots, which is present tale centered around the romantic hijinks that befall two girls, Melly and Maddy, in their last year of high school. I'm going to try to update as much as possible, where I've written quite a chunk of MH'sH, and can be expected to post with reasonable promptness and regularity, but no such promises for Forget-Me-Nots. As always, please read and review both!
I haven't mastered writing yet, I won't pretend I have. I can only practice.
