Well, this is the page where I'm supposed to write some things about myself and my writing, am I right?
well... if I wasn't, I am now.
When I started writing: That's a bit of a hard question. I used to make up stories with my Barbies, most of which would include my Barbie's falling off the couch/rocky cliff at one point or another. I've always had one weakness with my writing: I really am intrigued by death and danger.
When I was five, I think, I 'wrote' my first real story. The plot being something along the lines of : new girl at school. falls in love with one of the boys... memory goes blank something something something... they somehow end up at a lake in the middle of the night, a headless Mummy comes into it somehow and they all drown. the end.
cough ...well yes. You'll probably find my writing style hasn't changed much. Throughout my childhood years I would translate my story ideas through hundreds of pictures, for my understanding only. Once i drew a girl... wait for it... hanging off a cliff. the paper couldn't quite show how big the cliff was, so i sticky-taped several pieces of paper together, drew the length of the cliff, and then put it on the fridge. needless to say, Mum took it down upon sight.
In year five, our class had to write a fiction story. As I went to a Catholic school, unfortunately, the guidelines were clear. No violence. No dying. I started out with the best intentions, as i wrote of a magical, colourful, happy place with magical, colourful, happy characters. before long i added the character pierre von lunatic, who's life's ambition was to destroy anything lovely. I got around the guidelines by never specifically stating that anyone died or was hurt. like... pierre entered suzy's room with the knife, cackling... skip to next scene
Yes, I am a girl.
A few months after that, the school's reading and writing head read some of my work, and began entering me in competitions. Turned out, I didn't suck at writing quite as much as I'd always thought!
In year Seven i wrote a harry potter fan fiction on the site mugglenet.com, entitled 'forever yours'. That actually became quite a success, with over 700 reviews last time I checked... a long time ago... I never did finish it...i had the best intentions with that too, honest :(
Which brings me to here. Last year I wrote Behind My Eyes, All That's Locked Inside (i deleted it from my computer after ghastly reviews from everyone. i now stubbornly insist I never wrote such a story) Secrets Untold, In Cold Blood, What if it were real, and a Lesson in Learning. I've been spending several months writing a story that I like so much, it's never coming on here. I'd rather not take the risk of someone plagarising THAT! Just to continue my fun on this site, however, I'm putting up a much shorter story called "Harlan's Mansion'.
