Me!

Hi! My pen name is Arya Rose.

I'm 20 years old, and mourning the deah of my teenage years.

I love languages - Obviously, I love English. I have a knack for knowing what will sound good and what's correct. I've taken 6 years of French, and four years of German. Of the two, German is my passion. I'm more fluent in German, due mostly to the fact that I was part of an exchange program that let me live with two different families for two weeks each, which gave me a wonderful month in a country I hope to revisit and possibly call my home soon.

I absolutely adore college.

I LOVE Theater. It's my life. I started out in Stage Crew working on the sets for the two shows my school does each year, and progressed through various leadership positions until I was Student Director. I live for it. Each time I walk into the auditorium, everything else fades away; all of the stress from my day just melts off of me. It's my sanctuary. Originally, my major was Theatre Studies but due to financial circumstances and a healthy does of reality, I have been forced to put my dreams aside for the moment. I'm now officially a Computer Science major, with a Theatre minor and a Theatre Management minor. I'm really excited to begin my Computer Science work, and I'm thankful that I will be keeping some theatre in my life.

I'm notoriously bad at regular updates. Oops. Most of the time, this is because I'm slightly OCD and I'll rewrite something completely if I've been away from it for so much as a few months.

Updates:

3/3/13:

Hello all! I'm sorry to announce that I've pulled DoTM off of this site permanently. I apologize to all of my faithful followers and readers! I'm still writing it, but the version posted here was really outdated and I don't plan on posting it again because of copyright concerns. Thank you for a great run with my story!

11/19/10:

So, I've been working on DoTM, but I hit a road block. There's a major issue that I need to go through and fix that affects later chapters, so while I'm working on that, I decided to go through my old stuff and clean house lol. I found another unfinished poem on my laptop, and decided to finish it. It's pretty decent, I think, compared to the complete and utter shit I usually spit out. PLEASE review? You all know how insecure I am about my lack of poetry writing abilities lol...

I've also got another idea in the back of my mind right now for a story. I like it a lot but it'll take quite a bit of work and I want to at least finish book one of DoTM first.

Sorry I've disappeared for so long - life's hectic again. I've made the decision, and I'm moving out in a few weeks. That'll be 'fun' ... ugh. Why does life hate me? So yeah, I sincerely apologize to everyone I've left hanging. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to post anything new before christmas...

7/20/10:

WOW! You guys are absolutely amazing. I just opened my inbox and had over twenty reviews on DoTM alone! I feel so loved Because you guys are so great, I've posted chapter eighteen. I'm working on chapter nineteen right now, and I hope to post it tomorrow. Well, it's almost done, so I know I will lol. My only question now is how far I can get between now and the time I go to sleep... hmm... I'm guessing at least two more chapters :)

Also, I made a cover for DoTM. It's temporary - I'm actually changing it a bit. But I'm uploading it as my avatar and posting it online. Here's the link to it online, in case it doesn't work out as my avatar. Deviant Art

7/15/10:

Well, after a fun weekend at the lake, where I wrote six whole chapters for DoTM, I come home and I have only one review. That's utterly ridiculous. I have all of the way through chapter eighteen written, but I refuse to upload more until I get more reviews, damn it! Just having one reviewer is not giving me enough feedback here. I really want to know what you people think about the story! It's not worth uploading this story here if I'm not getting any readers.

7/9/10 (yes, again lol):

Wow... I just wrote the most intense chapter... Probably the best thing I've ever written. It all came about when I had the idea to switch chapters nine and ten to add more suspense, and had to write a small intro to make it make sense... Well, that intro turned into a full new chapter! It's pretty freaking awesome. I know I wanted to wait for reviews before posting, but since I'm going to the lake for the weekend, I'll put these two chapters up. I expect some serious reviews when I get back lol, or no more uploads for a week for you guys! xD

7/9/10:

Well, I'm disappointed in the lack of reviews. My beta reviewed lol but she doesn't really count... Because she's my beta and was just commenting on some editing. So, no new chapter for you guys. I finished it today (chapter nine of DoTM), but I guess I'm not posting until Monday now...

7/9/10 (after midnight lol):

Well, I've uploaded chapters seven and eight; chapter seven because I've got my theater director reading it now and I want her to have the most updated portion, and chapter eight because I got my first reviewer on the new version :)

I'm going camping for the weekend, so I'll have no internet. Fortunately, we have a trailer up there on our lake property, so I'll be inside writing the whole time (Ugh, I hate the outdoors... and the sun hates me. Everytime I step outside, I fry TT-TT ). So anyway, I'll have a lot of new chapters when I come back on Monday. If I see some reviews, I'll post the new stuff. If not, I'll keep it on my harddrive until I do get a review. S'not hard, people. I review every story I read, unless it's crap and I click away from it before I get to the bottom. It's common courtesy. So unless you hate my story, review! Hell, even if you hate it, LET ME KNOW! I want to get some actual feedback here.

ALSO! I will post chapter nine tomorrow, IF I finish rewriting it. But only IF I get one new reviewer overnight. Just one. All that I ask is to wake up in the morning to some lovely reviews from readers. Is that so much? I don't think so. PEACE OUT. G'night all

7/8/10:

Ahh, if only it was still 2009, this date would make me smile lol. 789. Because plain old 69 just wasn't good enough anymore. ANYWAY, lol, I've finished a bit more of my story (DoTM of course), and uploaded THREE WHOLE CHAPTERS! I'm proud of myself =) You should go read it, and leave a review. Because I refuse to upload chapter seven, which IS written and waiting btw, until somebody leaves me a god damned review! (I'm really hyper today lol.) I LIKE PARENTHESIS. That is all. Have a good day

7/6/10:

Happy Summer lol. After my computer decided to delete my entire story, DoTM, I gave up on it. I cried and threw a fit and was so angry that I vowed to never pick it up a gain... and that lasted a week or so lol. My theater director expressed an interest in reading it, and since I refused to give her the old, crappy version I still had backed up on a flashdrive, I started to rewrite it. I changed a lot, and chopped my chapters in half. I'm happier with it now, but I want to know what everyone else thinks! Please go check it out!

I'm also working on a short story about a guy with post-traumatic stress disorder who goes to a fireworks show. It's pretty awesome! Look for it up here soon!

I'm going through a lot right now, but I'm using it to make my writing stronger. I can only take it one day at a time and hope that I'm strong enough to make it to tomorrow...

1/3/10:

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Wow, I so needed Winter Break. RL was getting insanely hectic and I just needed to get away from it all. I can't believe break's over now... Back to School tomorrow. Joy.

BUT! At least break was productive for me - I went through and re-edited everything (Yes, again. I can't help it! I have OCD!), as well as finishing chapter six! I uploaded it once, but I had to rearrange some things, so make sure to read the new one. This is like the third time I've uploaded chapter six xD Oh well... I like the way it is now.

12/28/09:

--dodges all of the objects you guys throw at me--

Hi! I'm back How are you all? I've been so insanely busy... What with getting the Swine Flu and missing a week of school, having Tech Week for the play (Stage Crew is my life and passion, so I'm at school in the theatre until 10, 11pm each night during tech week), the actual play, making up my absent work, doing massive projects for several of my classes, having my dog go through massive surgery, her almost dying three separate times... Junior year has been a never ending to do list v.v I haven't had much time for writing, unfortunately.

BUT! I've just uploaded chapter six of DoTM! I'm super excited to have finished another chapter =3 I really hope that there are still people out there who are reading the story... I'm sorry it's been so long, really I am! But RL just gets in the way sometimes. Please let me know if you're still interested in it? I'm going to continue posting it regardless, but if I don't have any readers, I probably won't bother being prompt. I may just stockpile a few chapters and post them all at once. But if I have people actually reading it, I'll try to get them up as quickly as I can.

My Stories:

Daughter of The Moon:

Book One: Bringer of the Moon: Moonshimmer's Story
A pack of wolves live in harmony... until a certain white she-wolf trots into their lives. Long before she was even born, a prophecy was foretold about a white she-wolf who would determine the fate of all wolves. Can she learn to accept her destiny before it's too late?

Book Two: Bringer of Storms: Stormrider's Story
Always the outcast of the Pack, Stormbringer hopes that things will finally turn around now that she's found a respectable mate. However, After the death of her pups, everything changes again, and it's not for the better. Can she escape the trauma of being responsible for the terrible death of her own pups, or will she too fall to the Darkness in her heart?

Book Three: Bringer of Darkness: Echosong's Story
Echosong is not like other wolves. First of all, she's blind, a condition that could end her life before it even has a chance to begin. Second, she has strange dreams that always seem to come true. And Third, she hears voices in her head. After The Bringer of the Moon sacrifices herself for all wolves, an era of peace descends upon the world. However, as time goes on, Echosong begins to notice that this perfection is only at the surface; Dark energy is threatening to overtake the world once more. Something went terribly wrong that stormy night in the cave. Can a blind wolf truly be destined to fix it, or does fate have more sinister plans for the daughter of Moonbringer...?

Prequel to the series : Bringer of the Wolves: Moonlight's Story
In this primitive and savage world, anything goes. Can the beautiful Moonlight save the world from her bitter half-brother? Or will the Darkness take over even her pure heart... For where there is Light, a Shadow must be cast.

Whisperer of The Stars: Starwhisperer's Story
As a Reader, Starwhisperer has some pretty awesome powers. But will these powers become a blessing, or a curse? Follow the life of a Reader, and learn of the sacrifices they must make each Sunrise.

I'm fascinated with the life of the Reader, and the sacrifices she must make every day. I want to write her story as an add-on to the series once I'm finished. I'd release it last, since it'd have spoilers for each book... But I'm not sure what to call it then lol! Help? Thanks in advance

So, the extremely long rant about plagiarism and DoTM:

As I'm sure some of you know, I was having problems for a while after I realized that this was, in fact, a bit like The Sight by David Clement-Davies. Yes, I have read the book (actually, I've read it 76 times at last count), and no, THIS IS NOT A FANFICTION OF ANY SORT.

I know it seems as though it could be, but c'mon people! Did The Sight start out with the vicious murder of pups? or a trial? no. The only similarities as of now are that A) There's a villian who was exiled. B) it's a wolf pack. and C) Some of the wolves will eventually come to possess some form of supernatural powers. OMFG, Have you ever read a decent story without a villian? And... I am not even going to respond to that second one. If you have a problem with that, then why have you even read this far? As for the final similarity, my exact reaction is this: "... How many stories currently involve the use of "magic" or "supernatural powers"? A LOT. Get over it."

Now, on a less bitchy note, Let me just say that this is a really sore topic for me. I made several changes, ensuring that I would not get any more reviews informing me that my story was like Warriors because of the name/pack structure, or The Sight. When the sequel to The Sight, Fell came out finally, I was in tears by the end of the novel. It seemed as though I had some form of ESP: everything I changed seemed to only make it more like Fell. Now, could you please tell me how the hell I can copy something BEFORE IT IS EVEN PUBLISHED?!

HOWEVER! I promise you that this story is a lot different than The Sight, and my best friend Jillian (Thestoryteller19) can second that statement. She did, after all, help come up with a good portion of the plot, and she has never read The Sight, so if you accuse me of plagiarizing, I will merely point at her and then we will both start having a fit. --laughs--

My Poetry:

Angel In Time:
Okay, I wrote this when I was in 4th grade. I know it actually could use a lot of fixing up, but I can't bring myself to change it! I wrote it after my great-grandfather died of cancer, and I just... can't. I'm leaving it as it is. So any constructive criticism will be noted, but not necessarily fixed.

Lonely Heart:
This was a poem written during English class freshman year with my friend Kat, who is an AMAZING poet. Seriously. I suck, but between the two of us, we came up with this. I love it!

Nothing:
This was a poem that I just sort of randomly found while cleaning out my old binders full of crappy story ideas. --laughs-- It's old and it's most likely crappy, but what the hell. You know you want to read it, even if it's just so you can review and let me know how badly it sucks.

Just Pretend:
Okay, I'm not sure if this counts as a poem, but it's very poetic lol. So I'll just put it here. I was sitting at our lake cottage early one morning, and the mist above the lake inspired me ;)

My Essays:

Wordsmith:
I wrote this in my English class. It was published in "Celebrating What Is Important to Me" which is a collection of 250 word essays submitted by students from all across the U.S. I hated having to cut it down to 250 words, so I posted the full version.

Once Upon A Breeze:
Sitting by the fire on a cold fall morning at our lake cottage, I noticed a clump of spider web on one of the logs that was moving. A huge creepy looking spider burst out of it, attempting to get away from the flames, but he failed. In a suddenly artistic mood, I thought about the spider's death. As I watched, the same log turned gray and brittle, eventually being reduced to a thin powder. The wind blew, carrying the ashes from the log with it... I grabbed my laptop, and this is what came of my artistic mood.

Favorite Books:

--evil laugh-- This could go on forever, but I'll just put my top favorites...

The Warriors series by Erin Hunter, the Redwall series (Yes, all 27 of those damned books! XD), the Eragon trilogy, Harry Potter, the Clique series, the Leven Thumps, Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz, the Blue is for Nightmares series (also by Laurie Faria Stolarz), To Kill A Mockingbird, The Glass Menagerie by Tenessee Williams, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak…

…and It'll be best if I end the list there... Otherwise you'll injure your head when it falls down and collides with the keyboard. --laughs--

NO, I do not like Twilight. I hate Stefanie Meyer's writing style and her characters all annoy me. Until last month, I had only (attempted) to read book one, but I got so frustrated that I threw it across the room after the first few chapters. Because of the release of the second movie, I've given them another try. I'm currently about to start the third book. I still hate them, but now I can actually join in on conversations my friends have about the story.

Twilight update as of 7/21/10: I give up. I can't make it through book three! It's just so horrible O.O

Favorite Anime/Manga:

SAILOR MOON!! In my opinion, Sailor Moon is the best manga and anime EVER!! I've been a fan since I was 5 years old!! If you've never seen or heard of this anime/manga, I feel for your poor deprived soul!! The only way to see it - since it was taken off the air and is out of print - is to either watch it on youtube or to buy off of e-bay or other sites like it... I did!! I'm the proud owner of all 5 seasons, including the untranslated season 5. I hope to have the world's largest Sailor Moon collection someday... Wow... see, this is what happens when someone mentions sailor moon!! I go into a long rant!!

Anyways... Other good ones that I enjoy are... Loveless, Fruits Basket, Inyuyasha, um... Guru-Guru Pon-Chan (really cute! I'm actually really sad that it's over now... sniffle), Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, Princess Ai, Wolf's Rain, Pretear, Scrapped Princess, Aria, Ultra Cute, Full Moon, Silver Diamond, and the list goes on and on and on and on...

Music:

I hate the hardcore rap, but I do like some of the hip-hop music... My favorite band of all time is Tokio Hotel. They are a German band, and they're AMAZING.

For my sweet sixteen, I got tickets to go to their concert in Detroit. The concert was two days after my actual birthday!! How amazing is that?! I have to say that it was the most amazing day of my life.

I do not have a favorite song by them (Hell, I have yet to find ONE song by them that I don't like!), but if I had to tell you which ones that I like best, they'd be...

Screamin
Scream
1000 Oceans
Human Connect to Human
Hey You
Alien
Don't Jump
Break Away
Raise Your Hands Together (Tom gets to do backup vocals!)
Unendlichkeit (Translates roughly to "Infinity")
Hilf Mir Fliegen (Translates to "Help Me Fly")

The last two are in German, so search for them with subtitles (Unless you know German, of course.)

My other absolute favorite band, and perhaps the only band that could rival Tokio Hotel's top spot on my list, is Sick Puppies. Shim's voice makes me melt when he sings, and makes me wanna dance when he screams. He's amazing

Other than Tokio Hotel and Sick Puppies, I listen to groups like Anberlin, All Time Low, Panic! at the Disco, Fallout Boy, the All American Rejects, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance, Plain White T's, All-Time Low, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Atreyu, The Maine, Cute is What We Aim For, Evans Blue, Finger Eleven, Flyleaf, Foo Fighters, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, Matchbox Twenty, Metro Station, Paramore, Skillet, Three Days Grace, Trapt ... Pretty much any type of alternative or indie rock... I hate country music with a passion. I also hate any music that was pre-1990s. ...come to think of it, most 90s music sucked as well. Ugh.

Television and Movies:

Okay, so Jericho on CBS was the most amazing show EVER. It's a fast-paced drama series, and it had excellent CONTENT, unlike all of those shitty reality-TV shows out these days. The sad thing is that CBS has cancelled it. Twice. Yes, twice. The first time, fans pulled together and managed to start a campaign titled "Nuts!" based off of the last line in the season 1 finale. Because of the amazing display of passion for the show, they brought back seven more episodes, which they labeled as season two. The season 2 finale turned out to be the series finale as well, but... it was a horrible ending to an awesome show. Instead of leaving the door open for other networks to pick up the show if they were interested, they left a GAPING HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. It was horrible... Nothing was wrapped up. There were so many loose ends, we could have made our own tasseled rug! I'm going to stop now... before I start screaming again.

I don't really watch that much TV anymore, but occasionally I'll watch Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, Private Practice... depends on what my mom has on when I come into the room. I used to watch Privileged and 90210 (new version), but I sort of stopped and never started watching them again.

Oh, and my friend Jillian has gotten me addicted to LOST. My mother and I have made our way through all 4 seasons, and we bought the 5th, which just came out on DVD. We're working on getting through that one before Feb. 2nd when the final season starts.

Movies... Pirates of the Carribean series, Mr. Brooks (best horror movie EVER!), The Covenant, Deja Vu, Transformers... umm... I don't really watch that many movies either...

Video games:

I feel the need to announce that Dragon Age is one of the most amazing games ever. I also like Kingdom Hearts, Spyro, Dark Cloud... and of course, every Pokemon game in existence :)

So! I have the most amazing friends in the whole entire world!

My friend Pie (Piewithpancakes) is an amazing author! Her sense of humor is often twisted, but she's awesome regardless

(Thestoryteller19), as always, you're incredibly talented. You're a much better writer than I'll ever be, but you inspire me and push me to keep at it! Thanks so much for always helping me when I get into a jam with DoTM!

(William_Edgedale) I’m so happy that we got to know each other freshman year and that you don’t think I hate you anymore! You’re such a talented writer! I miss English class; we always had a blast with Pie, Jenna, and Tiffany! I hate that we're not friends anymore... but I want you to know that you're still in my heart in more ways than you could ever know, and you've changed me for the better... I'm so glad that you were in my life, however short that time was!

(SHOTA-kun)... ily! You're amazing It's highly amusing that even though we couldn't even be in the same room without killing each other five years ago, we've come so far! You're all of the way up there with Jillian now in my book; You're my best friends!

And last, but certainly not least, Man-Man-Chan! (Amaya_Darkness), you're absolutely amazing! I know we don’t talk as often, but I don’t really feel like we’ve drifted that much, which is a great thing

Ily all! For all of you readers out there that want to check them out, they are all in my favorites as well! I strongly suggest that you go read their work!

Echoes of the Past
My take on the struggle every artist faces to be unique, to break away from convention and create something completely new. This poem is about shattering those illusions and letting the beauty that is within you take center stage. "To speak, or not to speak..." I choose the former. Heavy theatre metaphors and lingo.
