Author has written 24 stories for General, Romance, General, Love, and Life.

Found this list of "interview" questions on tumblr, thought it might be an interesting insight into my process or whatever.

Describe yourself how you would describe a character you’re introducing.

Hey, now. Don’t have such dirty tricks right off the bat. Besides, you introduce characters slowly, through circumstance and setting, not in a one-off paragraph—just slivers and aspects at a time! Which is probably a more helpful and insightful answer than actually knowing anything about me, aha.

Is there any specific ritual you go through while/before/after your writing?

Panic. Haha, no, not really. But when I have an idea, I totally zone out, and it always freaks my boyfriend out—he’ll ask what’s bothering me, and I’ll just glare at him because I have no words in my head other than the ones about to come out of my fingers (so I can’t possibly answer), and then things usually get worse. We’re thinking of developing some sort of nonverbal code…

What is your absolute favorite kind of fic to write?

Romantic tragedy/angst. I…don’t know why. Masochistic tendencies?

How many words can you write if you sit down and concentrate intensely for an hour?

If I’ve got the juices flowing, generally between 800-1000 words, which works out to about a page an hour with the settings I use (regular margins, 10 pt. Times New Roman, single-space).

Why do you choose to write?

Because if I didn’t, my brain would explode. And then I’d have to clean up the mess, and gray matter is so very goopy. Also, it’s more efficient than drawing, oddly enough.

Do you ever have plans to write anything other than fic?

Oh, these novels in my head…

What inspires you the most?

Ha, if I knew that, I’d have all my problems solved! Really, though, inspiration comes from everything and everywhere: music, shows, books, life. A passing glimpse of something on the side of the road while driving. A fleeting burst of thought when I’m shampooing my hair in the shower. Whatever.

Your guilty writing pleasure?

Um, besides smut…? ;D

Do you have structured ideas of how your story is supposed to go, or make it up as you write?

You would think I had outlines and plans and all sorts of nonsense, but I really, really don’t. With plot-based stories, I will always know the ending; that much I can say, even if the entire middle is an exciting mystery. But with shorter works, I usually have no idea what’s going to happen until it’s coming out of my fingers and I’m like, “Really? That’s how you wanted this to go? Okay, brain…” Then I side-eye myself, which is surprisingly difficult and physically impossible.

Would you describe yourself as a fast writer?

I type quite quickly, and I write fast when I have something to say (again, the 800-1000 words an hour from the earlier question). But I don’t necessarily get things done quickly, as my subconscious is quite tempermental at serving up the finished pieces of plot. Sometimes it bakes them very slowly, indeed, and I’m stuck with weeks of frustration before I vomit up 24,000 words in three days.

How old were you when you started writing?

Around twelve. I didn’t get remotely good at writing until I was at least nineteen. At twenty-six, I’ve gotten even better. It’s kinda freakish. You’d think that you’d stop improving, but you don’t. It’s like I practice or something, although it’s weird to think of writing as practicing. It’s just writing, right?

Why did you start writing?

Mostly because there were books I wanted to read, but nobody had had the decency to write them yet. So I took it upon myself. Then I discovered that this kept happening, so I kept writing. Rinse and repeat.

Reviews are better than chocolate. And chocolate is better than life. You make the connection and do what you feel you must (which, if you're confused, is review).

And because I've wanted to say this for so long, what with writing disclaimers for fanfictions...

I OWN EVERYTHING.

MINE.

Oh, that was sweet. Okay, whatever.

Enjoy!
